NFL DRAFT

Searching for Greatness (RBs)

If you’ve been paying attention, you would know that a rookie RB has finished Top 6 in four of the last five years. Dating back ten years, there have been a total of sixteen rookie RBs to finish Top 12 during that span. It’s at the same time surprising but not at all that shocking to see at least 1 rookie RB could end up being the difference-maker on your team from the get go.

Way Too Early 2023 NFL Mock Draft

The 2023 draft is slightly different in the sense that there are two highly coveted QBs sitting at the top of the draft. Something we didn’t see in 2022. I know some mocks have been a little wacky in terms of the number of QBs thrown around, but in my eyes, these are the only two worthy of a top 5, or even top 10, selection. We saw in the 2022 draft, that teams were more than willing to pass on QBs with many first-round projected QBs falling well into day 2. Outside of Young and Stroud, the other QBs have a lot to do to vault themselves higher and it really is a crapshoot. At this point, I see many QB needy teams once again passing on the position and taking other talented positions.

DiRienzo’s 2022 NFL Draft Metric Big Board

We celebrate the NFL Draft every year, like waiting on Christmas day to either wake up to the presents we asked for or be completely disappointed. Our favorite teams can play with our emotions, but they can’t mess with our fantasy teams. I’ve created this big board with the information that allows us to make the important decisions during our rookie drafts while also providing a lens at the prospects NFL teams will be drafting. Below is a breakdown of what you need to know while looking over the big board. All size and athleticism grades are my own weighted metric grades. All Combine/Pro-Day data comes from steelersdepot.com or RAS.

2022 Rookie WR Rankings – Combined Film and Analytics Grades

Last year I decided to combine film and analytics to my overall grading to provide the most clarity in projecting each prospect. Form 2022, I’m continuing this process. I’ve also created an easy way to look at rankings, using a similar method to recruiting star projections. The overall wide receiver projections are ranked using my new star rating system broken down in rookie draft round values. Pro-day data and complete analytical data such as dominator rating, BMI, yards per team pass attempt, aDOT, breakout age, and are provided in each prospect projection.

January Mockarena: Superflex Rookie Mock Draft

Every mock draft you read, real or fantasy, will probably have these QBs in a different order. I remember doing an early superflex rookie mock draft and commenting on how late the 2022 QBs went. To me, they still had so many questions to answer.

Scouting Report: Wan’Dale Robinson, WR, Kentucky

Since the early age of five, Wan’Dale Robinson seemed destined for greatness. According to an article by Greg Smith of hailvarsity.com, Robinson’s father, Dale, started Wan’Dale in football when he was just five.

Too young to play tackle football, Dale knew another family whose child was six and used that child’s birth certificate to get Wan’Dale into tackle football at an early age. The article explains that the family would drive nearly an hour every day for football practice.

Rookie Watch 2022

One of the more enjoyable parts of being a Devy player, Dynasty player, and NFL Draft obsessor is that intersection that happens with rookies. For all three levels, you are constantly evaluating rookies and projecting how good they will be. Knowing where each of these players falls in the rookie pecking order is important if you want to be a successful devy owner, dynasty owner, or draft evaluator.

All32: Mock Draft Recap- Bills

They kick things off by drafting a fast-rising corner in Greg Newsome II. Newsome ran a blazing 4.37 40 at his pro day and is a true lockdown type of corner. He may not have the INT stats, but he was a nightmare for receivers and QBs rarely threw his way because of it. Newsome can step in and be a high-level corner for a team that needs to try and shut down big-time offenses. They go on to add a lengthy edge rusher, Joe Tryon, with a knack for getting after the QB. Tryon can help provide pressure off the edge and put pressure on the QB. They also add some solid depth pieces in Naquan Jones, Thomas Graham, and Tarron Jackson.

All32: Mock Draft Recap- Packers

They kick things off in the first round grabbing Rondale Moore. Some may think this is too early, but I think he is too talented to let him fall past you this late. Moore is explosive, quick, shifty, and a true playmaker with the ball in his hands. There are endless things that he can be used for and would be a perfect complement to Adams. They also snag Spencer Brown in the 3rd; a solid tackle that can slide over to the right side opposite Bakhtiari to help protect Rodgers.
