It’s one thing to live up to the expectations of being a highly regarded recruit, but it’s another to live up to the expectations of being the son of a Hall of Fame running back. Emmitt James Smith IV, or E.J., enters the 2022 season with those expectations and more, considering Stanford went 3-9 in 2021 and needs Smith to put the team on his back.

Damien Martinez is a 3-star RB out of Lewisville, Texas. Oregon State was one of only five offers. He weighs in at a healthy 6′ and 228 pounds. He was fairly productive as a junior and senior in high school. He combined for 3,168 yards and 48 touchdowns in those two seasons. He also ran track and has an 11.37 100-meters time to his name. He enrolled early at Oregon State and has reportedly impressed everyone who has watched him.

There probably isn’t a player who was more hyped than Cameron Ward once he entered the Transfer Portal. 247sports sang his praises and college coaches hurled compliments at him(probably in hopes to land him). Ward is a 6’3″ 200-pound QB who transferred from Incarnate Word to Washington State, but who is he?

Isaiah Neyor is a name I’d heard, but I didn’t know much about him until he entered the Transfer Portal. Then he committed to Tennessee, and as a Tennessee hater, I had to see what the hype was about. USC, Ole Miss, and Texas were the other schools to offer him early.

Andrew Paul is a 3-star running back prospect out of Parish Episcopal School in Dallas, Texas. As you can tell by the title, he signed with Georgia as part of their ’22 class. Paul was a Clemson lean for at least a month before choosing Georgia on National Signing Day. How’d he get there?

By now, we all know the quality of class that Ohio State brings in. The wide receivers that want to play for Brain Hartline make up a lot of those classes. Two years ago, it was Julian Fleming and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Last year, Ohio State added Emeka Egbuka and Marvin Harrison, Jr. This year, it’s the quartet of Kyion Grayes, Caleb Burton, Kojo Antwi, and Kaleb Brown.

If you’ve read anything I’ve written here, you’ve probably picked up on the fact that I love the tight end position. Since I was nine years old, I’ve thought the TE was a mismatch position if used correctly. I’m still convinced that I could lead a TE like Brock Bowers to a Heisman-winning season with relative ease.

As we began working on the 2022 Devy Watch, we realized that it would look a little different and be released a little later this year. We don’t set a hard number for how many players to include, but it usually ends up around 300.

With the college season now ending, it’s time to see who the biggest devy risers and fallers are this season. I have summarized each player and provided full stats, including analytics, to paint the picture of their potential draft capital.

With another season coming to a close, I wanted to do a recap of sorts. Yesterday, I looked at players who were impressive relative to their devy ranking. Today, we’ll look at several players who didn’t live up to their expectations this season.

As we wrap up another year, I decided to take a look around the Devy landscape to see which players were most impressive and most depressing (tomorrow). I left out the elder players who improved their draft stock and focused on players with remaining Devy eligibility. I tried not to be too obvious with the list of players who impressed, but since we all pretty much know who was good, I kept it relative to their Devy expectations (either my personal ranks or the consensus).

From the age of 8 years old, Jordan Addison would tell his mom he was going to go to the NFL. He never ceased to make that dream come true, and through hard work and dedication, his path looks to be leading him to be playing on Sundays.

Bo Nix had successful surgery this week to repair a broken ankle that he suffered against Mississippi State last Saturday. For this first time in 34 games, he won’t start at QB for Auburn when the Tigers face South Carolina this weekend. Transfer QB TJ Finley will replace Nix as the starter.
