As we transition to rookie season, we decided to throw together an early superflex, TE premium, rookie mock draft while we work on Devy Watch 22 in the background.

Round 1

1.01 – Matt Corral, QB, Ole Miss
1.02 – Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State
1.03 – Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas
1.04 – Sam Howell, QB, North Carolina
1.05 – Breece Hall, RB, Iowa State
1.06 – Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama
1.07 – Drake London, WR, USC
1.08 – Isaiah Spiller, RB, Texas A&M
1.09 – Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State
1.10 – Kenneth Walker, RB, Michigan State
1.11 – Kyren Williams, RB, Notre Dame
1.12 – Kenny Pickett, QB, Pittsburgh

Every mock draft you read, real or fantasy, will probably have these QBs in a different order. I remember doing an early superflex rookie mock draft and commenting on how late the 2022 QBs went. To me, they still had so many questions to answer. I don’t think anything has changed except for Kenny Pickett working his way into the conversation. Someone putting together their only good season as a 23-year-old, fifth-year QB is its own article though. No matter how much you watch, read, or who you listen to, the 2022 QB order in superflex won’t be decided until April 28th at the earliest. The rest of Round 1 was dominated by WRs and RBs, and I can’t complain about the order they came off the board. One personal anecdote: thinking back to 2014-ish when I first heard Kenneth Walker’s name, drafting him in devy or in the first round of a fantasy rookie draft never came to mind, but to come that far is incredibly exciting.

Round 2

2.01 – David Bell, WR, Purdue
2.02 – Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn State
2.03 – Wan’Dale Robinson, WR, Kentucky
2.04 – Justyn Ross, WR, Clemson
2.05 – John Metchie, WR, Alabama
2.06 – Malik Willis, QB, Liberty
2.07 – Carson Strong, QB, Nevada
2.08 – George Pickens, WR, Georgia
2.09 – Zonovan Knight, RB, North Carolina State
2.10 – Jalen Wydermyer, TE, Texas A&M
2.11 – Tyler Allgeier, RB, BYU
2.12 – Hassan Haskins, RB, Michigan

This round went WR-heavy at the top then a couple of fliers at QB before rounding out with our first TE and a couple RBs of choice. I think Bell could have gone in Round 1, and he might end up there when all is said and done. The next two WRs, Dotson and Robinson, have the ability to climb as well if things break their way. I think there are people out there who still say that Malik Willis could be the rookie 1.01 in a superflex. I could never, but I was more than happy to take him in the middle of Round 2. I had strong opinions about George Pickens before the injury. I was going to lay it all out but I didn’t want it to look like I was dumping on him after he was injured. I plan to dive into those feelings later now that he’s going pro. All that to say, I was curious where he would go in this mock draft. I think 2.08 is appropriate because I believe he’ll be drafted much later than expected. I think it’s fair to go any direction you want at RB near the end of Round 2. I took Allgeier at 2.11, but second-guessed myself the entire time because Rachaad White was still available.

Round 3

3.01 – Khalil Shakir, WR, Boise State
3.02 – Rachaad White, RB, Arizona State
3.03 – Zamir White, RB, Georgia
3.04 – Trey McBride, TE, Colorado State
3.05 – Desmond Ridder, QB, Cincinnati
3.06 – Kevin Harris, RB, South Carolina
3.07 – Skyy Moore, RB, Western Michigan
3.08 – Abram Smith, RB, Baylor
3.09 – Brian Robinson, RB, Alabama
3.10 – Jerome Ford, RB, Cincinnati
3.11 – Sincere McCormick, RB, UTSA
3.12 – Devon Williams, WR, Oregon

There’s not a lot to say about this round. It’s made up of names you know, but their draft capital is uncertain. McBride could end up going higher in TE premium depending on his landing spot. I believe Ridder is a project, but there are enough people out there who love him. Kevin Harris was the tale of two seasons. It will be interesting to see how NFL teams view him.
