Draft season is upon us ladies and gentlemen! With the NFL Draft less than a month away, I thought it would be a good time to drop a full 7 round mock; with trades! But this year, I wanted to do it a bit differently. Instead of your basic 7 round mock where you scroll through pages of picks and find your team’s selections with relatively no commentary, I decided to break the mock up and do an article on each individual team’s haul! Giving you a breakdown of what each team brought in and how I think it could help. So without further adieu, let’s kick things off!

With the 57th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams select…

  • Landon Dickerson, OL, Alabama(2nd round)
  • Jordan Smith, DE, UAB(3rd round)
  • Alaric Jackson, OT, Iowa(3rd round)
  • Paddy Fisher, LB, Northwestern(4th round)
  • Kenny Yeboah, TE, Ole Miss(6th round)
  • Manny Rugamba, CB, Miami(OH)(7th round)

Stop me if you’ve heard this before, the Rams have no first-round pick! Seems like a yearly thing and something that will carry over the next few seasons as well. But the Rams have a ton of talent on their roster so their needs are smaller.

In the 2nd round, they add Landon Dickerson to their interior offensive line. Dickerson is a big-bodied interior lineman that played center at Alabama but can slide over to guard if needed. Dickerson is powerful, can hold up in pass protection, and moves very well. If he can stay healthy, he can be a major improvement to their line. They also grab Alaric Jackson that can eventually slide in at tackle and Kenny Yeboah, a raw but very athletic TE that is yet another weapon for this dangerous offense.

On defense, they grab Jordan Smith in the 3rd round. Smith is a lengthy edge rusher with an excellent motor, and the athleticism to play multiple spots. He will be a perfect compliment to Floyd as a pass-rushing duo. They also grab Paddy Fisher, a linebacker from Northwestern. Fisher was once seen as a high draft prospect so getting him here is still excellent value. Fisher has very good instincts, is a solid tackler, and can be a leader of the defense. Fisher could potentially slide in and man the middle of the Rams defense.

Overall, the Rams do a good job of getting talent on their roster especially with the lack of picks. They bulked up their offensive line by adding Landon Dickerson and Alaric Jackson as well as adding solid defenders that can make an impact.
