Draft season is upon us ladies and gentlemen! With the NFL Draft less than a month away, I thought it would be a good time to drop a full 7 round mock; with trades! But this year, I wanted to do it a bit differently. Instead of your basic 7 round mock where you scroll through pages of picks and find your team’s selections with relatively no commentary, I decided to break the mock up and do an article on each individual team’s haul! Giving you a breakdown of what each team brought in and how I think it could help. So without further adieu, let’s kick things off!

With the 67th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select…

  • Tylan Wallace, WR, Oklahoma St(3rd round)
  • Levi Onwuzurike, DT, Washington(4th round)
  • Shakur Brown, CB, Michigan St(5th round)
  • Matt Bushman, TE, BYU(5th round)
  • Kayode Awosika, OL, Buffalo(6th round)
  • Foster Sarell, OT, Wisconsin(6th round)
  • Brennan Eagles, WR, Texas(6th round)
  • Adetokunbo Ogundeji, DE, Notre Dame(7th round)

The Houston Texans have really put their new GM in a tough spot. Due to different trades, they find themselves not only without a first-round pick but also no second-round pick. We won’t get into their off-field issues, but for a team with a ton of on-field needs, it puts them in a bind and has them just looking to add as much talent as possible regardless of position.

With their first selection, they grab Tylan Wallace WR from Oklahoma St. Wallace has been very productive during his college career and can really help open things up for this offense. He is solid in his route running but is a real threat to take the top off the defense and is dangerous with the ball in his hands. They also grab Matt Bushman for depth at TE as well as Kayode Awosika and Foster Sarell to the offensive line who could potentially be full-time starters.

On the defensive side of the ball, they grab Levi Onwuzurike, a DT that can be a game-changer up the middle. In the 5th round, they drafted Shakur Brown to help add depth to their defensive backfield. With their last pick, they draft Adetokunbo Ogundeji who is very explosive off the edge and could be a huge steal that late in the draft.

Overall, the Texans are just looking to add talent to their roster and build as they can. With a lack of picks, especially early, it will be difficult to find top-tier talent but they do find guys that could develop into that.
