The Best Receiving Backs in College Football

I wanted to dig into college RBs and find the best returning receiving backs for 2021. Instead of lumping these backs together, or trying to rank them, I attempted to categorize them since they are a little different. Before we get into that, I wanted to mention that there are plenty of players who could have made this article, but I had to draw the line somewhere. So players like Tyler Goodson, Nay’Quan Wright, Kimani Vidal, and Bijan Robinson who did most of their receiving work on screens and dump-offs won’t be included. They are talented in their own right, but I think I found someone better in each category.

MY GUYS: 2023 – XXI – McDaniel

Every NFL Draft, there are players that we’ve rooted on for years, sometimes since they were recruits. Maybe they have a year that makes us become so intrigued with their skill set and ability that we begin to label them as “my guys.” In this article, I share those players have I have followed and rooted for in college football. These are the players that come Saturdays; I’m rooting to succeed, and come Sundays, I’m hoping to find in my fantasy lineups. These are “my guys.”

BAG MAN: August 18, 2021

“The question we need to ask ourselves is: what is success to us? More money? That’s fine. A healthy family? A happy marriage? Helping others? To be famous? Spiritually sound? To express ourselves? To create art? To leave the world a better place than we found it? What is success to me? Continue to ask yourself that question. How are you prosperous? What is your relevance?

Your answer may change over time and that’s fine but do yourself this favor – whatever your answer is, don’t choose anything that would jeopardize your soul. Prioritize who you are, who you want to be, and don’t spend time with anything that antagonizes your character. Don’t depend on drinking the Kool-Aid – it’s popular, tastes sweet today, but it will give you cavities tomorrow. Life is not a popularity contest. Be brave, take the hill. But first answer the question.” – Matthew McConaughey, Greenlights

Devy Watch XXI : Toughest Cuts

One of the most challenging parts of creating this annual guide is trimming the list down to a manageable number of prospects. One of the most significant difficulties we face is watching all of the freshmen that we are assigned. We will gather as much information as possible from each team’s spring practices and make some updates to the overall ranks and add players in line for substantial work this season. In this article series, each team member will outline which players were the toughest omissions they made from 2021 Devy Watch.

Spring games are done. Camp battles are underway. Depth Charts are beginning to shake out. The start of the college football season is on the horizon! The Most Important Games for Fringe QBs

I wanted to try to find the most important games for the fringe QBs who are 2022 draft-eligible. Even though they still have questions to answer, we’ve seen enough from Spencer Rattler and Sam Howell on big stages versus big opponents to have a good idea who they are, and 2021 gives us another year of it. Guys like Matt Corral and JT Daniels get another go versus an SEC schedule to prove their mettle. What about a guy like Desmond Ridder, though? He’s getting media/Twitter buzz, but from what I’ve seen, he’s still a project.

Devy Sleeper: Xavier Hutchinson, WR, Iowa State

Xavier Hutchinson hails from his hometown in Jacksonville, Florida, where he grew up in a military family household. Both parents were in the Navy, and Hutchinson learned the value of hard work and respect at a young age. He also learned the importance of being a man of your word, which manifested during his commitment to Iowa State.

As a high school senior, Hutchinson caught 74 passes while racking up 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was also a standout basketball player in which he lettered.

B1G West: Incoming Freshmen WRs

The list of WR signees was just too large to have just one article. The eastern side of the league no doubt is the better version. According to 247Comp Ranks the top 6 receivers to sign with a Big Ten school all came from the eastern half. No surprise the Buckeyes signed the top three receivers in all of the Big Ten but Penn State grabbed themselves quite the group of receivers as well.

B1G: Incoming Freshmen RBs

As the lead evaluator for the B1G now is a perfect time to start breaking down all the incoming freshmen. 19 RBs signed with a Big Ten school, only Penn State didn’t sign a back for the 2021 recruiting cycle. A handful of these prospects were listed as ATH or FB (indicated by *) by 247Sports but they appear as RBs on team rosters.
