COLLEGE FANTASY FOOTBALL

Week 1 DFS: Monday, September 6th, 2021

Louisville v Ole Miss (-9/75 (N – ATL)) Ville w experience DT QB in Cunningham. Replace Hawkins at RB but Mitchell and Hall are a very good 1-2 and I think they won’t skip a beat here. Jersey names change but one of these backs under Sat runs 1K+ each year. OL should be best in years. Lose two dynamic WRs which probably hurts most but I really like the potential of their eclectic room. They’ve got some blazers and prototypical outside guys.

Week 1 DFS: Sunday, September 5th, 2021

ND @ FSU (+8/56 SUN) ND loses Book at QB and replaces him with a less mobile, less impressive game manager in Wiscy transfer Coan. OL one of least experienced in CFB -losing 4 starters but getting a transfer from Marshall. They have a great back in Williams who may need to be more involved as receiver this year as he was to close last year’s campaign. Irish have no proven playmakers at WR and that has been their undoing anytime they face a top program. If anyone pops for them it will be Kevin Austin who has great talent but is a lifelong dog house guy. Early reports indicate they are moving him and Mayer around formations to create mismatches.

Blackjack Bargain Bin: CFF/C2C Dynasty Edition

As the popularity of C2C and CFF dynasty grows with each passing year, it’s critical to identify cheap assets to backfill our rosters and prepare for the future. I’m going to attempt to identify several players at each position that are highly unlikely to cost you much in trades and could potentially be available on waivers. Some of these names will be known and have been talked about by savvy analysts and players alike, but I’m doing my best to unearth several names that you may not be extremely familiar with. The players are listed in alphabetic order, by position, not by priority level. One other item of note, I care very little about a player’s pro potential in C2C drafts. That changes some in the very early rounds of startup drafts, but the chances that you are picking a player that will be fantasy relevant in round ten or more is highly unlikely. The amount of players that achieve fantasy relevance at the NFL level is minuscule, and our collective abilities to accurately predict them are vastly overstated. I consider most players that grow into fantasy assets at the NFL level to be a bonus or a cherry on top. The greater emphasis one places on collegiate producers, the greater likelihood of actually making some money in that format. Many of these suggestions are lower probability bets, but the cost provides a potentially strong return. For full disclosure purposes, I have been able to roster 19 of these 21 players myself, so I am putting my money where my mouth is.

Week 0 DFS: August 28, 2021

This will be a new addition to this year’s articles. If you are not familiar with PrizePicks.com, it is a site that is a combination of prop betting and DFS (hubba hubba!). They allow you to bet player props by yardage or total and also give the option to wager on how many fantasy points a player will record in a contest. I’ve been betting a lot of their season-long props, but I’ve recently started adding their daily options. In general, I dislike parlays. This site requires that you do at least a two-player parlay with each game. I believe that my edge on these bets is so significant that some of what I hand over to the book in their built-in edges with parlay payouts are offset by my ability to beat these numbers.

BAG MAN: August 18, 2021

“The question we need to ask ourselves is: what is success to us? More money? That’s fine. A healthy family? A happy marriage? Helping others? To be famous? Spiritually sound? To express ourselves? To create art? To leave the world a better place than we found it? What is success to me? Continue to ask yourself that question. How are you prosperous? What is your relevance?

Your answer may change over time and that’s fine but do yourself this favor – whatever your answer is, don’t choose anything that would jeopardize your soul. Prioritize who you are, who you want to be, and don’t spend time with anything that antagonizes your character. Don’t depend on drinking the Kool-Aid – it’s popular, tastes sweet today, but it will give you cavities tomorrow. Life is not a popularity contest. Be brave, take the hill. But first answer the question.” – Matthew McConaughey, Greenlights

CFB DFS: Wednesday, December 30th, 2020

Similar to yesterday’s card, there are three viable QBs on this slate. I’ll never play a Wisconsin QB, so Mertz is a pass for me. His counterpart, Sam Hartman will have the toughest matchup against the Badgers defense, but he’s gonna sling it nearly 40 times and he’s cheap.
