Devy values are very fluid. They can balloon and fluctuate week-to-week. It’s not the best practice to (over)react to one game, but with three games in the books for most teams, it’s time to take a look at the tight end position. Whose stock is up? Whose stock is down? Whose stock is holding steady?
Stock Up
Kyle Pitts, Florida:
After a monster 5-catch for 108 yards day against LSU, Pitts now leads the nation in TE receptions. Pitts has been the receiving game for the Gators the majority of the season but has really taken off with Kyle Trask as the QB. The redshirt freshman is on the fast track to be 1B with Brevin Jordan as the top TE in his class.
Brevin Jordan, Miami (FL):
Over his last three games, Jordan has amassed 12/254/1. The sophomore leads all TEs with 417 yards through his six games played. However, Kyle Pitts is hot on Jordan’s tail for the top TE prospect in the 2021 class.
Cole Kmet, Notre Dame:
Kmet has only seen action in four games after a broken collarbone. He has hauled in 21/265/3 in those four games. Notre Dame has done a great job of getting Kmet involved each week in the passing game. However, he’s struggled a bit on the outside locking in space on screen passes for the Irish. While he has the potential to go pro after 2019, I’d love to see him stick out one more year in college and refine his blocking.
Stock Down
Jacob Breeland, Oregon:
Breeland was one of the most productive TEs in the nation but was lost for the remainder of the season to a leg injury. This may force Breeland to return for a fifth year at Oregon. 2021 could be a loaded TE class with the likes of Jordan, Pitts, Kmet, and Breeland, if they all return for one more year of school.
