We’ve had a lot of movement in the Transfer Portal, but it seems like top guys are still jumping in as fast as others are finding new homes. I thought it would be fun to look at the most interesting uncommitted players currently seeking a new start.

QB

There aren’t many impactful QBs left in the Transfer Portal, but I found two who are at least interesting.

Brennan Armstrong
I was never sold on him from a Devy angle, but he did some impressive things during his time at Virginia. He plays an intriguing game, and that was on full display in 2021. He’s currently trending to North Carolina State. They need a replacement for Devin Leary, but I’d rather get MJ Morris on the field sooner than later. [UPDATED: COMMITTED  TO NC STATE]

Brady Allen
This is one worth monitoring, I think. We profiled him in DW22, projecting that he would develop under Jeff Brohm at Purdue. When Brohm left for Louisville, Allen entered the Transfer Portal. Someone will get a former 4-star who stands 6’5″, weighs 210 pounds, and has solid traits. [UPDATED: STAYING AT PURDUE]

RB

When I wrote this article, MarShawn Lloyd was still uncommitted. I had to come back and remove him when he committed to Southern Cal. As far as I know, he doesn’t play defense, so I guess Lincoln Riley is going to force his opponents to score 70 to win.

Nay’Quan Wright
Wright is my favorite RB in the Transfer Portal, committed or uncommitted. I hate that he left Florida, but I get it, and I’m excited to see where he lands. He’s recently tweeted offers from Louisville and Colorado. Wright is as heady as he is shifty. He’s a great receiving option and embarrasses defenders in the open field.

Chris Street
This one is probably only interesting to me. I liked his game coming out of high school. He had 22 carries and 1 catch in 3 seasons at Cal. He hasn’t received any buzz since entering the Portal. He’s only been linked to BYU as RB depth. But a fresh start is a fresh start, I guess.

Treshaun Ward
He’s the odd man out in FSU’s crowded backfield. He led the ACC in yards per carry at 6.61 in 2022. He’s probably not Devy-relevant, but could be a CFF ticket if he lands as a team’s RB1.

WR

This group hurts the most. I get very attached to WRs and where they land out of high school. I hate seeing guys transfer out as soon as the depth chart opens up for them.

CJ Williams
He’s the most recent addition to the Transfer Portal and a shocking one. He’s not my 2022 freshman WR1, but he’s my favorite WR in that class. I loved the idea of him with Lincoln Riley and the caliber of QB that Riley gets. Williams was once a Notre Dame commit. He’s back on the market and Notre Dame still doesn’t have anything at WR. They do have a massive upgrade at QB with Sam Hartman. I never thought I’d type this, but Notre Dame, let’s make this happen.

Agiye Hall
Just kidding! He’s working on 7th team in 7 years dating back to high school (thanks for the nugget, Greg).

Dante Cephas
He’s arguably the top receiver in Transfer Portal. When he announced his intentions to transfer, he was immediately offered by every blue blood he played against this season. It looked like he was trending to Georgia before UGA scooped up Missouri’s and Mississippi State’s leading receivers in Dominic Lovett and Rara Thomas, respectively. Things cooled off for Cephas before he was rumored to Pitt (where he’s from), but Penn State said not so fast, or maybe the other way around. Who can keep it straight these days? It’s surprising how long he’s been in the Portal.

Trent Whittemore
When he wasn’t injured, he was underutilized at UF, and that’s why the Gainesville native opted to head out. He will immediately improve the WR corps wherever he lands. [UPDATED: COMMITTED TO UCF]

Arik Gilbert
Haha! Gotcha again!

Andrel Anthony
I like Anthony’s length and speed, and I can’t figure out why Michigan doesn’t use him. He admitted he needs to improve as route runner and blocker at his next stop. Where will that be? Well, he immediately received offers from Miami, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Penn State, UCLA, and Michigan State. He’s going to land on his feet.
