Draft season is upon us ladies and gentlemen! With the NFL Draft less than a month away, I thought it would be a good time to drop a full 7 round mock; with trades! But this year, I wanted to do it a bit differently. Instead of your basic 7 round mock where you scroll through pages of picks and find your team’s selections with relatively no commentary, I decided to break the mock up and do an article on each individual team’s haul! Giving you a breakdown of what each team brought in and how I think it could help. So without further adieu, let’s kick things off!

With the 19th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Washington Football Team selects…

  • Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma St(1st round)
  • Kye Trask, QB, Florida(2nd round)- TRADE with SF
  • Paris Ford, S, Pittsburgh(3rd round)
  • Trill Williams, CB, Syracuse(4th round)
  • Garrett Wallow, LB, TCU(5th round)
  • Jaelon Darden, WR, North Texas(7th round)
  • Antonio Phillips, CB, Ball St(7th round)

The Washington Football Team is in a weird position where they weren’t very good last year and have a ton of needs, but since they made the playoffs they have a later draft pick than they would normally have.

With their first pick, they find their left tackle of the future in Teven Jenkins. Jenkins has been mocked all over the place with some having him in the top 15. But Washington is able to land him with their pick and can help protect their eventual QB of the future. Washington attempts to land their QB of the future by trading up with SF to grab Kyle Trask. Trask put up some huge numbers for Florida and nearly won the Heisman because of it. Trask is still pretty raw and has some things he needs to work on which makes this a great fit. He can sit and learn behind Fitzpatrick for a season and be in a much better position going into year 2. Later in the draft, Washington selects Jaelon Darden, a WR from North Texas. Darden doesn’t have ideal size but is extremely shifty and dangerous with the ball in his hands. He could be a perfect fit to line up next to McClaurin and Samuel.

In the 3rd round, Washington grabs Paris Ford who is a hard-hitting safety with a ton of range and can fly around the field. He will be an excellent addition to an already talented group of defensive backs. Trill Williams and Antonio Ball are two solid corners that can provide depth behind Fuller/Jackson. They also add Garret Wallow, a linebacker that can hit hard and play the run very well. He is the perfect type of linebacker that can stay on the field most of the game.

Overall, the Washington Football Team does a good job of adding talent and building up this team. They add a potentially elite offensive tackle as well as some very good players to their defense and depth. It may not be this year, but this is a good step to getting Washington in the playoff hunt again.
