Draft season is upon us ladies and gentlemen! With the NFL Draft less than a month away, I thought it would be a good time to drop a full 7 round mock; with trades! But this year, I wanted to do it a bit differently. Instead of your basic 7 round mock where you scroll through pages of picks and find your team’s selections with relatively no commentary, I decided to break the mock up and do an article on each individual team’s haul! Giving you a breakdown of what each team brought in and how I think it could help. So without further adieu, let’s kick things off!
With the 27th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select…
- Zaven Collins, DE, Tulsa(1st round)
- Andre Sisco, S, Syracuse(2nd round)
- D’Wayne Eskridge, WR, Western Michigan(3rd round)
- Brady Christensen, OT, BYU(4th round)
- Nick Eubanks, TE, Michigan(5th round)
- Drew Dalman, OL, Stanford(5th round)
- Tony Fields II, LB, West Virginia(6th round)
The Baltimore Ravens are a team that is just a few pieces away from getting to that next level. For them, it is Super Bowl or bust. So in the draft, they are looking for players that can make an impact if called upon.
With an already explosive offense, they use their first two picks to focus on adding talent to the defensive side of the ball. Zaven Collins is a freakishly athletic linebacker that is very versatile. He can play a traditional linebacker role but also has the ability to rush the passer. His versatility and the ability to move him all over the field will make him extremely valuable at the next level and allow him to make an impact in many different ways. Andre Sisco is a very instinctual safety that breaks very well on the football and is an excellent tackler. He has the ability to diagnose plays quickly and make a play at a high level. The addition of these two will help in multiple areas of the defense.
On offense, they grab some athletic skill position players. First off, grabbing D’Wayne Eskridge at the receiver position. Eskridge was a product wide-out with good speed, the ability to get on top of the defense, and solid route running. He can come in and help open up this offense right away. They also add Nick Eubanks to their TE core. Eubanks is a lengthy and athletic TE that can be an extra weapon at the position behind Andrews. On top of that, they grab two solid offensive linemen to try and sure up their line.
Overall, the Ravens do a good job of improving their team. They add two difference makers to their defense that can help slow down some of the explosive offenses they will face in the playoffs as well as additional players to their offense that can help open things up and make them even more dangerous than they already are.
