Draft season is upon us ladies and gentlemen! With the NFL Draft less than a month away, I thought it would be a good time to drop a full 7 round mock; with trades! But this year, I wanted to do it a bit differently. Instead of your basic 7 round mock where you scroll through pages of picks and find your team’s selections with relatively no commentary, I decided to break the mock-up and do an article on each individual team’s haul! Giving you a breakdown of what each team brought in and how I think it could help. So without further adieu, let’s kick things off!

With the 11th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select…

  • Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina(1st round)
  • Carlos Basham Jr, DE, Wake Forest(2nd round)
  • Jabril Cox, LB, LSU(3rd round)
  • Drake Jackson, OL, Kentucky(4th round)
  • Pro Wells, TE, TCU(6th round)
  • Marquez Stevenson, WR, Houston(6th round)

For a while, I had the Giants taking a QB(or TE if Pitts fell), but with the Golladay signing that changes what they need to do at the top of the draft. Instead, they add Jaycee Horn to help bolster their secondary. Horn is an excellent cover corner that can stick to receivers like glue. With how deadly some of the weapons are in their division, Horn is much needed. They also add Carlos Basham, a very talented pass rusher that was projected as a top 10 pick at one point. Basham has solid pass rush moves and a very high motor. Lastly, they add Jabril Cox, a very athletic linebacker that can help on many different levels of their defense.

On offense, they make a few additions that could prove to be beneficial. Drake Jackson is a solid offensive lineman that can add some depth or even be a starter at some point. Pro Wells is a TE with a ton of upside and athleticism. He may take a few seasons to develop but will be another weapon to add to this offense. And Marquez Stevenson is a wideout that can fly up the field and really open up the defense.

Overall, I am a fan of what the Giants are able to do in this draft. Adding Horn to their secondary is huge considering the types of receivers they will be going up against each week as well as bolstering their pass rush with Basham.
