Draft season is upon us ladies and gentlemen! With the NFL Draft less than a month away, I thought it would be a good time to drop a full 7 round mock; with trades! But this year, I wanted to do it a bit differently. Instead of your basic 7 round mock where you scroll through pages of picks and find your team’s selections with relatively no commentary, I decided to break the mock-up and do an article on each individual team’s haul! Giving you a breakdown of what each team brought in and how I think it could help. So without further adieu, let’s kick things off!

With the 6th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select…

  • Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida
  • Gregory Rousseau, DE, Miami
  • Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson
  • Creed Humphrey, OL, Oklahoma
  • Tutu Atwell, WR, Louisville
  • Tariq Thompson, S, San Diego St
  • Riley Cole, LB, South Alabama
  • Lorenzo Burns, CB, Arizona

I think the Dolphins come out of the 2021 draft better than anyone! They move back, acquire even more draft capital, and still keep them within range of getting a top player in the draft! Also, with their capital this year, they LOAD up on talent!

First up, the Dolphins land maybe the most talked about and one of the most coveted players in Kyle Pitts. The Dolphins already have a talented TE but let’s call Pitts for what he is; he is a weapon, not a TE. This guy has the talent to be lined up all over the field and will really open up this offense. They also add one of the top RBs in this class in Travis Etienne. Etienne is so explosive and has an excellent all-around game and can take this run game to an entirely new level. The Dolphins are also able to add a very good offensive lineman as well as a talented WR to their receiving core.

Also in the 1st round, the Dolphins land DE Gregory Rousseau out of Miami and my top-rated edge rusher. Rousseau is a freak athlete that can rush the passer at a high level, plays well against the run, and can pretty much be lined up anywhere on the defensive line. He will be terrorizing QBs for many, many years. The Dolphins also do a great job by adding some quality depth to the defensive side of the ball. Tariq Thompson, Riley Cole, and Lorenzo Burns are all players that can get into the rotation and potentially carve out a role for themselves.

As I said above, I love what the Dolphins did with this draft. They added even more draft capital to future drafts while also landing some elite players. This is a team that could easily start competing for their division and playoff spot starting this season.
