Draft season is upon us ladies and gentlemen! With the NFL Draft less than a month away, I thought it would be a good time to drop a full 7 round mock; with trades! But this year, I wanted to do it a bit differently. Instead of your basic 7 round mock where you scroll through pages of picks and find your team’s selections with relatively no commentary, I decided to break the mock up and do an article on each individual team’s haul! Giving you a breakdown of what each team brought in and how I think it could help. So without further adieu, let’s kick things off!

With the 32nd pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select…

  • Kwity Paye, DE, Michigan(1st round)
  • Marvin Wilson, DT, Florida St(2nd round)
  • Tyler Shelvin, DT, LSU(3rd round)
  • Michael Carter, RB, UNC(4th round)
  • Brady Davis, QB, Illinois St(5th round)
  • Jimmy Morrissey, OL, Pittsburgh(6th round)
  • Cade Johnson, WR, South Dakota St(7th round)
  • Ernest Jones, LB, South Carolina(7th round)

The defending Super Bowl champs are officially on the clock! After bringing back all their starters, and especially some key players on longer deals, the Bucs don’t have many “needs” per se which will allow them to draft based on their board.

They kick things off by drafting Kwity Paye, an edge rusher from Michigan. Paye is explosive off the edge and can win with power or a number of different pass rush moves. He does an excellent job of getting pressure on the QB and will be deadly opposite of Barrett. They follow this pick-up with two excellent defensive tackles. Marvin Wilson was once seen as a potential top 10 pick and is a monster up the middle. He can push the line and get after the QB with the best of them. Tyler Shelvin is a big-bodied DT that can eat up blockers and stuff the run. These three could end up wreaking havoc on offenses for years to come.

On offense, they land Michael Carter in the 4th. Carter is a productive back out of UNC with good vision, burst to break off big plays, and very good moves to make defenders miss. They also grab one of my favorite sleeper QBs in Brady Davis. Davis has the size you look for in a QB along with a live arm and accuracy. To me, he is the perfect type of QB you let sit and learn from your HOFer. They are also able to add Cade Johnson, a receiver from SDSU with a ton of upside.

Overall, the Bucs do an excellent job of adding a ton of talent to their roster. They bulk up the defense with players that can get after the QB as well as grab some players on the other side of the ball that can develop into full-time starters quickly.
