Draft season is upon us ladies and gentlemen! With the NFL Draft less than a month away, I thought it would be a good time to drop a full 7 round mock; with trades! But this year, I wanted to do it a bit differently. Instead of your basic 7 round mock where you scroll through pages of picks and find your team’s selections with relatively no commentary, I decided to break the mock-up and do an article on each individual team’s haul! Giving you a breakdown of what each team brought in and how I think it could help. So without further adieu, let’s kick things off!

With the 9th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos select…

  • Micah Parsons, LB, Penn St
  • Alex Leatherwood, OL, Alabama
  • Kellen Mond, QB, Texas A&M
  • Ronnie Perkins, DE, Oklahoma
  • Bobby Brown III, DT, Texas A&M
  • Royce Newman, OT, Ole Miss
  • Bryce Thompson, CB, Tennessee
  • Dax Milne, WR, BYU
  • Jaret Patterson, RB, Buffalo

Well, unfortunately for Broncos fans, they miss out on the QB carousel going in the top 10. But no matter, they land one of the top players in this draft in my opinion! Micah Parsons blew up his pro day, showing just how freakishly athletic he really is. Parsons is a player that can play the run, get after the QB on a blitz, and has the speed/athleticism to cover backs or tight ends.

After that, the Broncos start to add to their offense throughout the draft. Alex Leatherwood is a solid offensive lineman that can play tackle but will be a beast on the interior. They also are able to grab Kellen Mond, a QB that put up some nice numbers and seems to be rising up draft boards throughout the process. At the tail-end of the draft, they grab some depth at WR and RB with Dax Milne and Jaret Patterson.

In addition to Parsons, the Broncos grab more quality players for the defensive side of the ball to try and shut down some of the dangerous offenses in their division. Perkins is a solid pass rusher that can add to their rotation and even take over for Miller in the future if need be. Bobby Brown is a big, strong defensive tackle that can move lineman and plug up holes. Finally, Thompson is a solid DB that can play alongside Fuller/Darby in the secondary.

Overall, the Broncos do a good job of adding talented players to their roster. Adding Micah Parsons will immediately elevate their defense on several different levels. They also find a ton of high upside players, on both sides of the ball, that could potentially develop into high-end starters.
