Draft season is upon us ladies and gentlemen! With the NFL Draft less than a month away, I thought it would be a good time to drop a full 7 round mock; with trades! But this year, I wanted to do it a bit differently. Instead of your basic 7 round mock where you scroll through pages of picks and find your team’s selections with relatively no commentary, I decided to break the mock up and do an article on each individual team’s haul! Giving you a breakdown of what each team brought in and how I think it could help. So without further adieu, let’s kick things off!

With the 30th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select…

  • Greg Newsome II, CB, Northwestern(1st round)
  • Joe Tryon, DE, Washington(2nd round)
  • Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Memphis(3rd round)
  • Naquan Jones, DT, Michigan St(5th round)
  • Marlon Williams, WR, UCF(5th round)
  • Thomas Graham Jr, CB, Oregon(6th round)
  • Tarron Jackson, DE, Coastal Carolina(7th round)

Over the years, the Buffalo Bills have done an excellent job of building up their team and continued to do so during this offseason. This has put them in a position to not only compete now but draft based far less on need and more based on BPA.

They kick things off by drafting a fast-rising corner in Greg Newsome II. Newsome ran a blazing 4.37 40 at his pro day and is a true lockdown type of corner. He may not have the INT stats, but he was a nightmare for receivers and QBs rarely threw his way because of it. Newsome can step in and be a high-level corner for a team that needs to try and shut down big-time offenses. They go on to add a lengthy edge rusher, Joe Tryon, with a knack for getting after the QB. Tryon can help provide pressure off the edge and put pressure on the QB. They also add some solid depth pieces in Naquan Jones, Thomas Graham, and Tarron Jackson.

On offense, the Bills add two players that can help add some explosiveness to their team. Kenneth Gainwell is a very good back that looks like he is shot out of a cannon when he gets space. He will help with the big play aspect as well as keeping defenses honest and taking pressure off the QB. They also add Marlon Williams; a receiver that does a great job getting open and is sure-handed. He can be a nice compliment to Diggs, Sanders, and Beasley and potentially develop into a full-time starter at some point.

Overall the Bills did a great job of adding talent to their roster and guys that can help them win now. Newsome and Tryon should be able to step in and contribute right away with both of them having the potential to be extremely productive.
