Draft season is upon us ladies and gentlemen! With the NFL Draft less than a month away, I thought it would be a good time to drop a full 7 round mock; with trades! But this year, I wanted to do it a bit differently. Instead of your basic 7 round mock where you scroll through pages of picks and find your team’s selections with relatively no commentary, I decided to break the mock up and do an article on each individual team’s haul! Giving you a breakdown of what each team brought in and how I think it could help. So without further adieu, let’s kick things off!

With the 20th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select…

  • Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota(1st round)
  • Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame(2nd round)
  • Jamie Newman, QB, Georgia(3rd round)
  • Keith Taylor JR, CB, Washington(5th round)
  • Pooka Williams, RB, Kansas(6th round)
  • Shi Smith, WR, South Carolina(6th round)
  •  D’antne Demery, OL, Florida International(6th round)
  • Malik Herring, DT, Georgia(6th round)

The Bears are another team that appears to be in the QB market but are just out of range to get one of the top QBs in this year’s draft. But they do a good job of addressing other needs and adding talent.

With their first pick, they take Rashod Bateman WR from Minnesota. Many have out Bateman in the same talent level as the other top receivers so landing him this late in the draft is excellent for the Bears. Bateman has good speed reportedly running 4.39 40 at his pro day. He is also a solid route runner with good hands. He will be very good alongside Allen Robinson and can help take this offense to another level. They then go on to add Liam Eichenberg, a solid LT that was once projected as a high first-rounder. In the 3rd round, they do snag a QB that has some upside. Jamie Newman had a ton of buzz when he transferred to Georgia but eventually opted out. He is raw but has a lot of tools to work with and could be a developmental type. They also add some depth with Pooka Williams, Shi Smith, and D’antne Demery.

The Bears don’t do a ton on defense until later in the draft but do snag some players with upside and can provide depth at the least. Malik Herring was a highly regarded DE going into Georgia and will provide excellent depth and upside.

Overall, I like the talent the Bears have added. In the first two rounds, they add two players that can be elite at their position and make an impact immediately. From there, they add a lot of talent and potential to a team that needs it.
