Arizona Cardinals: B-
Round 1: No. 16 Zaven Collins, LB (Tulsa)
Round 2: No. 49 Rondale Moore, WR (Purdue)
Round 4: No. 136 (from Ravens) Marco Wilson, CB (Florida)
Round 6: No. 210 (from Ravens) Victor Dimukeje, LB (Duke)
Round 6: No. 223 (from Vikings) Tay Gowan, CB (Central Florida)
Round 7: No. 243 James Wiggins, S (Cincinnati)
Round 7: No. 247 (from Bears through Raiders) Michal Menet, C (Penn State)
Favorite Pick: Rondale Moore
Worst Pick: Zaven Collins
Biggest Steal: James Wiggins
Personally, I wasn’t a HUGE fan of the Cards 1st round pick. I liked Collins as a prospect but felt there were other quality players there that could help address some needs. As much as I love his versatility, they drafted another versatile player last year and couldn’t get him on the field as much as you’d like. Will they see the same thing with Collins? Time will tell.
However, I do LOVE the Rondale Moore pick. Moore was a top guy for me and is a perfect complement to what they already have at the position. He has the skills and versatility to be implemented early and develop into a long-term starter. I also liked their later-round picks. Dimukeje, Wiggins, and Menet all have very good upside and could eventually be in the rotation for them.
Atlanta Falcons: A-
Round 1: No. 4 Kyle Pitts, TE (Florida)
Round 2: No. 40 (from Broncos) S Richie Grant (Central Florida)
Round 3: No. 68 Jalen Mayfield, OT (Michigan)
Round 4: No. 108: Darren Hall, CB (SDSU)
Round 4: No. 114 (from Broncos) Drew Dalman, C (Stanford)
Round 5: No. 148 Ta’Quon Graham, DT (Texas)
Round 5: No. 182 Adetokunbo Ogundeji, DE (Notre Dame)
Round 5: No. 183 Avery Williams, CB (Boise State)
Round 6: No. 187 Frank Darby, WR (Arizona State)
Favorite Pick: Kyle Pitts
Worst Pick: Frank Darby
Biggest Steal: Jaylen Mayfield
I was a huge fan of what the Falcons did in the draft. I wasn’t on board with playing for the future and drafting a QB at #4 so I am very happy they went with Pitts. Pitts can add instant impact on this offense and help take pressure off their star receivers. Adding Pitts may launch this offense into being one of the more difficult to stop in the NFL and a match-up nightmare.
While I feel there were better safeties available at pick 40, I do like Grant and think he can fit into their rotation early. I wasn’t someone who thought they needed a ton of line help after spending two 1sts in 2019 on the position, but landing Mayfield in the 3rd is huge! Mayfield was being mocked in the 1st round, at worst the 2nd so snagging him was a steal.
Baltimore Ravens: A-
Round 1: No. 27 Rashod Bateman, WR (Minnesota)
Round 1: No. 31 (from Chiefs) Jayson Oweh, DE (Penn State)
Round 3: No. 94 (from Chiefs) Ben Cleveland, G (Georgia)
Round 3: No. 104 Brandon Stephens, CB (SMU)
Round 4: No. 131 Tylan Wallace, WR (Oklahoma State)
Round 5: No. 160 (from Cardinals) Shaun Wade, CB (Ohio State)
Round 5: No. 171 Daelin Hayes, LB (Notre Dame)
Round 5: No. 184 Ben Mason, FB (Michigan)
Favorite Pick: Rashod Bateman
Worst Pick: Brandon Stephens
Biggest Steal: Shaun Wade
Overall, I am a big fan of what the Ravens did. Only a few issues, but a ton of hits! I’ll start with the hits…Rashod Bateman has long been one of my favorite WRs and personally, I think he could be the true WR1 the Ravens have been looking for. He has a complete skill set and speed to make big plays. Homerun for the Ravens here. Oweh is a gamble in the 1st, but he has some tremendous upside. His athleticism is maybe the best at the position and he could be a huge hit for the Ravens. I also really like getting Wade in the 5th. Wade is a guy being mocked high preseason and saw his stock tumble. In the right system and position, Wade could flourish and this could be a big-time steal.
What I am not a fan of? I would’ve flipped the CB and WR draft spots 100%. Instead of Stephens, there were other very good WRs available that you could pair with Bateman and still get a quality corner. Drafting Amon-Ra St Brown instead would have sent this offense over the top! I am also worried about them not addressing RT in the draft at all after trading theirs away. It could come back to haunt them.
Buffalo Bills: B+
Round 1: No. 30 Gregory Rousseau, DL (Miami)
Round 2: No. 61 Carlos Basham Jr., DE (Wake Forest)
Round 3: No. 93 Spencer Brown, OT (Northern Iowa)
Round 5: No. 161 (from Raiders) Tommy Doyle, OT (Miami (Ohio))
Round 6: No. 203 Marquez Stevenson, WR (Houston)
Round 6: No. 212 (from Saints via Texans) Damar Hamlin, S (Pittsburgh)
Round 6: No. 213 Rachad Wildgoose, CB (Wisconsin)
Round 7: No. 236 (from Panthers) Jack Anderson, G (Texas Tech)
Favorite Pick: Gregory Rousseau
Worst Pick: Carlos Basham Jr
Biggest Steal: Spencer Brown
I thought the Bills did very well in this draft. They added some difference makers and addressed some needs. I am a huge fan of Rousseau and getting him at the end of the 1st is highway robbery! Perhaps the most athletic DE with huge upside falls right into their laps. I also love the Spencer Brown pick. I thought he could have crept into the high 2nd round so getting him at the end of the third is great. He could be a dominant tackle for them.
With the Rousseau pick, I am not a huge fan of the Basham pick. While getting Basham at the end of the 2nd is great, they had other needs in my opinion. There were some quality players available at RB, WR, or even DT that could make an instant impact for them. Not getting an RB may come back to bite them later on down the road.
Carolina Panthers: A+
Round 1: No. 8 Jaycee Horn, CB (South Carolina)
Round 2: No. 59 (from Browns) Terrace Marshall Jr., WR (LSU)
Round 3: No. 70 (from Eagles) Brady Christensen, OT (BYU)
Round 3: No. 83 (from Bears) Tommy Tremble, TE (Notre Dame)
Round 4: No. 113 Chuba Hubbard, RB (Oklahoma State)
Round 5: No. 158 Daviyon Nixon, DT (Iowa)
Round 5: No. 166 (from Titans) Keith Taylor, CB (Washington)
Round 6: No. 204 (from Bears) Shi Smith, WR (South Carolina)
Round 6: No. 222 Thomas Fletcher, LS (Alabama)
Round 7: No. 232 (from Titans) Phil Hoskins, DT (Kentucky)
Favorite Pick: Terrace Marshall
Worst Pick: Tommy Tremble
Biggest Steal: Daviyon Nixon
Personally, I am a huge fan of the Panthers’ draft. They got criticism for not going OT with their first pick, but Horn is a dog and will elevate their defense in a major way. I loved snagging Marshall in the 2nd. He is a different type of WR than what they have and one of my favorite to watch in this process. He will help make this offense even scarier. I also loved snagging Nixon in the 5th round. Nixon was being mocked in the 2nd round with a few sneaking him in at the end of the 1st. This could be the steal of a lifetime right here!
One knock I will give them is the Tommy Tremble pick. Personally, I felt there were much better TEs available that could have been a steal even at that stage of the draft. Tremble has some upside, but give me a guy like Brevin Jordan all day long.
Chicago Bears: A+
Round 1: No. 11 (from Giants) Justin Fields, QB (Ohio State)
Round 2: No. 39 (from Panthers) OT Teven Jenkins (Oklahoma State)
Round 5: No. 151 (from Panthers) Larry Borom, OT (Missouri)
Round 6: No. 217 (from Seahawks) Khalil Herbert, RB (Virginia Tech)
Round 6: No. 221 Dazz Newsome, WR (North Carolina)
Round 6: No. 228 Thomas Graham Jr., CB (Oregon)
Round 7: No. 250 (from Seahawks) Khyiris Tonga, DT (BYU)
Favorite Pick: Justin Fields
Worst Pick: Khalil Herbert
Biggest Steal: Tevin Jenkins
I think everyone is universally happy with what the Bears did in this draft. Do I love giving up future assets? No. But I LOVE Justin Fields so being able to move up only 10 picks to get him is great. Fields could be a franchise changer and this was a much needed move by the Bears. On top of that, they get a 1st round caliber tackle in Tevin Jenkins much later than he should’ve gone. They also added a nice weapon in Dazz Newsome. Overall, the Bears grabbed their QB of the future while giving him more weapons and some protection. This team is set up to start competing soon so watch out for Da Bears!
Cincinnati Bengals: A-
Round 1: No. 5 Ja’Marr Chase, WR (LSU)
Round 2: No. 46 (from Patriots) Jackson Carman, OT (Clemson)
Round 3: No. 69 Joseph Ossai, DE (Texas)
Round 4: No. 111 Cameron Sample, DE (Tulane)
Round 4: No. 122 Tyler Shelvin, DT (LSU)
Round 4: No. 139 D’ante Smith, OT (East Carolina)
Round 5: No. 149 Evan McPherson, K (Florida)
Round 6: No. 190 Trey Hill, C (Georgia)
Round 7: No. 202 (from Dolphins through Texans) Chris Evans, RB (Michigan)
Round 7: No. 235 (from Lions through Seahawks) Wyatt Hubert, DE (Kansas State)
Favorite Pick: Ja’Marr Chase
Worst Pick: Jackson Carman
Biggest Steal: Joseph Ossai
While my strategy of the draft would have been to go OT with my first pick, the Bengals ultimately did VERY well. Ja’Marr Chase could be an offense-changing receiver and help give Burrow the tools to light it up. Joseph Ossai is a versatile linebacker that was being mocked at the end of the 1st, early 2nd. So snagging him in the 3rd was huge for a rebuilding team!
I don’t dislike Carman as a player necessarily. I do believe there were better options for the Bengals. Had they not traded down, they could have taken Jenkins and essentially netted two first-round caliber players. Even then, there were a few others I liked a bit more. Nonetheless, the Bengals filled the needs they had with quality players which earns them an A in my book!
Cleveland Browns: A
Round 1: No. 26 Greg Newsome II, CB (Northwestern)
Round 2: No. 52 (from Panthers) Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB (Notre Dame)
Round 3: No. 91 (from Saints) Anthony Schwartz, WR (Auburn)
Round 4: No. 110 (from Eagles) James Hudson, OT (Cincinnati)
Round 4: No. 132 Tommy Togiai, DT (Ohio State)
Round 5: No. 153 (from Lions) Tony Fields II, LB (West Virginia)
Round 5: No. 169 (from Rams) Richard Lecounte III, S (Georgia)
Round 6: No. 211 Demetric Felton, RB (UCLA)
Favorite Pick: Greg Newsome
Worst Pick: Anthony Schwartz
Biggest Steal: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah
A team with not many needs pretty much slam-dunked the draft! Greg Newsome is a very good corner and will help elevate their secondary. But the big splash was getting JOK in the mid 2nd after many thought he would be a top 15 pick. Some bad medicals pushed him down but if he stays healthy, he is a huge addition to their defense.
My biggest knock will be drafting Anthony Schwartz. Sure he is fast, but that is about all there is to get excited about. There were other explosive WRs available to the Browns that offer a more complete game that I would have liked to see them draft.
Dallas Cowboys: B+
Round 1: No. 12 (from 49ers through Dolphins through Eagles) Micah Parsons, LB (Penn State)
Round 2: No. 44 Kelvin Joseph, CB (Kentucky)
Round 3: No. 75 Osa Odighuzua, DT (UCLA)
Round 3: No. 84 (from Colts through Eagles) Chauncey Golston, DE (Iowa)
Round 3: No. 99 Nahshon Wright, CB (Oregon State)
Round 4: No. 115 Jabril Cox, LB (NDSU, LSU)
Round 4: No. 138 Josh Ball, OT (Marshall)
Round 5: No. 179 Simi Fehoko, WR (Stanford)
Round 6: No. 192 (from Lions) Quinton Bohanna, DT (Kentucky)
Round 6: No. 227 Israel Mukuamu, CB (South Carolina)
Round 7: No. 238 Matt Farniok, G (Nebraska)
Favorite Pick: Micah Parsons
Worst Pick: Nashon Wright
Biggest Steal: Kelvin Joseph
The Cowboys have been killed for their draft, but I really did like it for the most part. They seem to get hate for the Parsons pick, but with the departure of Lee, Parsons was needed. He is a freak athlete that can fly around the field and will be a huge addition to their defense. They ended up being able to snag the corner they needed in the 2nd round and Kelvin Joseph is a guy that was mocked in the first so another huge addition for them.
I question the Wright pick both because it was too early for him and they had other needs at the time with talent on the board. TEs fell down the board and I thought they should have snagged one around that time to really elevate their offense.
Denver Broncos: B-
Round 1: No. 9 Patrick Surtain II, CB (Alabama)
Round 2: No. 35 (from Falcons) Javonte Williams, RB (North Carolina)
Round 3: No. 98 (from Saints): Quinn Meinerz, G (Wisconsin-Whitewater)
Round 3: No. 105 (from Saints) Baron Browning, LB (Ohio State)
Round 5: No. 152 Caden Sterns, S (Texas)
Round 5: No. 164 (from Bears via Giants) Jamar Johnson, S (Indiana)
Round 6: No. 219 (from Falcons) Seth Williams, WR (Auburn)
Round 7: No. 237 Kary Vincent Jr., CB (LSU)
Round 7: No. 239 (from Giants) Jonathon Cooper, LB (Ohio State)
Round 7: No. 253 (from Browns) Marquiss Spencer, DL (Mississippi State)
Favorite Pick: Seth Williams
Worst Pick: Javonte Williams
Biggest Steal: Kary Vincent Jr
While they drafted some talented players, I don’t think the Broncos did a great job of addressing some of their needs. Their first two picks were spent on positions that weren’t a huge need while neglecting some talented players sitting there for them. People may like Javonte Williams, but trading up to draft an RB when you have plenty of talent is questionable.
I do, however, like the talent they added to their defense. Surtain, Browning, Sterns, and Vincent are all quality players that will contribute in different ways for them in a very tough division.
Detroit Lions: A+
Round 1: No. 7 Penei Sewell, OT (Oregon)
Round 2: No. 41 Levi Onwuzurike, DT (Washington)
Round 3: No. 72 Alim McNeill, DT (North Carolina State)
Round 3: No. 101 (from Rams) Ifeatu Melifonwu, CB (Syracuse)
Round 4: No. 112 Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR (USC)
Round 4: No. 113 (from Panthers through Browns) Derrick Barnes, LB (Purdue)
Round 7: No. 257 Jermar Jefferson, RB (Oregon State)
Favorite Pick: Penei Sewell
Worst Pick: Jermar Jefferson
Biggest Steal: Amon-Ra St. Brown
I am a HUGE fan of the Lions’ draft this year. They sat back and ended up with the best tackle in the draft and a guy that can be a monster for them for the next decade. In the next two rounds, they added some monsters in the middle that will create havoc for offenses. Maybe my favorite steal is getting Amon-Ra St Brown in the 4th round. ASB is better than many of the receivers that went ahead of him and will really help this offense overall.
Nitpicking to try and find something I don’t like, I am not a fan of taking Jefferson even though it is good value.
Green Bay Packers: D+
Round 1: No. 29 Eric Stokes, CB (Georgia)
Round 2: No. 62 Josh Myers, C (Ohio State)
Round 3: No. 85 (from Titans) Amari Rodgers, WR (Clemson)
Round 4: No. 142 Royce Newman, OG (Ole Miss)
Round 5: No. 173 Tedarrell Slaton, DT (Florida)
Round 5: No. 178 Shemar Jean-Charles, CB (Appalachian State)
Round 6: No. 214 Cole Van Lanen, G (Wisconsin)
Round 6: No. 220 Isaiah McDuffie, LB (Boston College)
Round 7: No. 256 Kylin Hill, RB (Mississippi State)
Favorite Pick: Josh Myers
Worst Pick: Eric Stokes
Biggest Steal: Kylin Hill
To say I wasn’t a fan of the Packers draft would be an understatement. They addressed needs, but not with the players I believe they should have with what was available. I get wanting to go defense initially, but I do not think Stokes was the guy there. Trade back if need be, but I feel there were better options. While I feel Rodgers can provide some positive impact to their offense, I am not as high on him as others were and felt there were better options for them in the first few rounds. Basically, I think the Packers drafted a ton of upside but no players that I am certain will step in and make an impact. Which is a scary thing coming out of the draft.
Houston Texans: D+
Round 3: No. 67 Davis Mills, QB (Stanford)
Round 3: No. 89 (from Browns via Panthers) Nico Collins, WR (Michigan)
Round 5: No. 147 Brevin Jordan, TE (Miami)
Round 5: No. 170 Garret Wallow, LB (TCU)
Round 6: No. 195 (from Cowboys through Patriots) Roy Lopez, DT (Arizona)
Favorite Pick: Brevin Jordan
Worst Pick: Nico Collins
Biggest Steal: Brevin Jordan
With no picks in the first two rounds, it would have been hard to come away impressed with their draft but somehow they made sure it was even worse. I don’t hate the Mills pick as much as others. He has a ton of upside and if Watson is off the team, he could be a guy that steps in eventually. They also snagged Brevin Jordan late which is a huge steal. He is super athletic and a difference-maker at the position.
Other than that, there is nothing to write home about. I am not a Collins fan and don’t think he can be a dependable receiver for them. There were other receivers available that I think they will regret passing on. Overall, the Texans still have a ton of work to do to improve this team.
Indianapolis Colts: B-
Round 1: No. 21 Kwity Paye, DL (Michigan)
Round 2: No. 54 Dayo Odeyingbo, DL (Vanderbilt)
Round 4: No. 127 Kylen Granson, TE (SMU)
Round 5: No. 165 Shawn Davis, S (Florida)
Round 6: No. 218 (from Saints) Sam Ehlinger, QB (Texas)
Round 7: No. 229 (from Jaguars via Saints) Mike Strachan, WR (Charleston (W.V.))
Round 7: No. 248 Will Fries, OT (Penn State)
Favorite Pick: Kylen Granson
Worst Pick: Dayo Odeyingbo
Biggest Steal: Kylen Granson
I didn’t love nor hate the Colts draft. I think they got some quality players and good value but no real splash player and perhaps only one impact player overall. Paye is a solid edge rusher with very good value. Kylen Granson is one of my favorite TEs in the class and has the upside to make some plays for the Colts.
I don’t dislike Odeyingbo, but I also think they could have addressed their offensive line needs there instead of much later.
Jacksonville Jaguars: A
Round 1: No. 1 Trevor Lawrence, QB (Clemson)
Round 1: No. 25 (from Rams) Travis Etienne, RB (Clemson)
Round 2: No. 33: Tyson Campbell, CB (Georgia)
Round 2: No. 45 (from Vikings) Walker Little, OT (Stanford)
Round 3: No. 65 Andre Cisco, S (Syracuse)
Round 4: No. 106 Jay Tufele, DT (USC)
Round 4: No. 121 (from Raiders via 49ers via Rams) Jordan Smith, DE (Alabama-Birmingham)
Round 5: No. 145 Luke Farrell, TE (Ohio State)
Round 6: No. 208 (from Rams): Jalen Camp, WR (Georgia Tech)
Favorite Pick: Trevor Lawrence
Worst Pick: Tyson Campbell
Biggest Steal: Jay Tufele
It is easy to love the Jaguars draft. They had a ton of picks and landed the best player in the draft. Lawrence is an elite prospect that can change the course of this franchise on day 1. Adding Etienne in the backfield is huge and someone that can provide big-play ability. I also love the Walker Little pick. There is some risk due to injuries, but his upside is a franchise-caliber LT.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the Campbell pick. Thought it was a bit of a reach and less of a need. With other elite players available there, I would have liked to see them take a top-end WR or TE there and REALLY take this offense to another level. Had they went WR or TE earlier and got a difference-maker, their grade could be an A+
Kansas City Chiefs: A
Round 2: No. 58 (from Ravens): Nick Bolton, LB (Missouri)
Round 2: No. 63 Creed Humphrey, C (Oklahoma)
Round 4: No. 144 Joshua Kaindoh, DE (Florida State)
Round 5: No. 162 (from Dolphins via Raiders via Jets) Noah Gray, TE (Duke)
Round 5: No. 181 Cornell Powell, WR (Clemson)
Round 6: No. 226 (from Panthers via Jets) Trey Smith, G (Tennessee)
Favorite Picks: Creed Humphrey
Worst Pick: Cornell Powell
Biggest Steal: Trey Smith
For a team with no 1st round pick, I loved this draft and especially if you include Orlando Brown in the deal. Either way, they executed big time. Both Bolton and Humphrey were projected as late 1st/early 2nd round guys so being able to get them both at the end of the 2nd is huge. Both guys can be difference makers early on. I also love the Trey Smith pick. A guy being mocked in the 1st fell WAY down the board. If he stays healthy, they may have found a high-end guard for nothing.
I don’t think Powell is a terrible pick, but I do think there were better options out there for the Chiefs. I am not sure Powell is a guy that can overtake some of the receivers they currently have but he does have the upside and is different from what they have now.
Las Vegas Raiders: C-
Round 1: No. 17 Alex Leatherwood, OL (Alabama)
Round 2: No. 43 (from 49ers) Trevon Moehrig, S (TCU)
Round 3: No. 79 (from Cardinals) Malcolm Koonce, DE (Buffalo)
Round 3: No. 80 Divine Deablo, S (Virginia Tech)
Round 4: No. 143 (from Vikings via Jets) Tyree Gillespie, S (Missouri)
Round 5: No. 167 (from Seahawks) Nate Hobbs, CB (Illinois)
Round 7: No. 230 (from Jets via 49ers) Jimmy Morrissey, C (Pittsburgh)
Favorite Pick: Trevon Moehrig
Worst Pick: Alex Leatherwood
Biggest Steal: Trevon Moehrig
The overwhelming sentiment is the Raiders did terribly and I tend to agree. The Alex Leatherwood pick is questionable at best. The Raiders seem to like reaching on players and haven’t learned to trade back. On top of that, they drafted 3 safeties in this draft and did next to nothing, outside of Leatherwood, in addressing their offensive line needs.
The saving grace is landing Moehrig in the 2nd. He was a consensus 1st round pick and was top 15 on many boards. He was a huge steal for the Raiders and could save this draft class.
Los Angeles Chargers: B+
Round 1: No. 13 Rashawn Slater, OT (Northwestern)
Round 2: No. 47 Asante Samuel Jr., CB (Florida State)
Round 3: No. 77 Josh Palmer, WR (Tennessee)
Round 3: No. 97 Tre’ McKitty, TE (Georgia)
Round 4: No. 118 Chris Rumph II, LB (Duke)
Round 5: No. 159 Brendan James, OT (Nebraska)
Round 6: No. 185 (from Jaguars through Titans) Nick Niemann, LB (Iowa)
Round 6: No. 198 Larry Rountree III, RB (Missouri)
Round 7: No. 241 Mark Webb, S (Georgia)
Favorite Pick: Rashawn Slater
Worst Pick: Josh Palmer
Biggest Steal: Asante Samuel Jr
The Chargers draft was a mixed bag for me. I loved their first two picks. Rashawn Slater could be the best lineman to come out of the draft and his versatility makes this pick even better. Samuel was projected as a late 1st so snagging him in the 2nd was huge for them. These two guys could be difference-makers immediately.
Their 3rd round picks, I hated, to be kind. There were some talented players at those positions left on the board and I question why they went with Palmer and McKitty. Both have upside, sure, but I would have much rather had ASB and Brevin Jordan instead of who they grabbed. But that’s just me
Los Angeles Rams: D
Round 2: No. 57 Tutu Atwell, WR (Louisville)
Round 3: No. 103 Ernest Jones, LB (South Carolina)
Round 4: No. 117 Bobby Brown, DT (Texas A&M)
Round 4: No. 130 (from Rams via Jaguars) Robert Rochell, CB (Central Arkansas)
Round 4: No.141 Jacob Harris, WR (UCF)
Round 5: No. 174 (from Bills via Texans) Earnest Brown IV, DL (Northwestern)
Round 7: No. 233 (from Bengals via Texans) Jake Funk, RB (Maryland)
Round 7: No. 249 (from Titans via Jaguars) Ben Skowonek, WR (Notre Dame)
Round 7: No. 252 Chris Garrett, LB (Concordia-St. Paul)
Favorite Pick: Robert Rochell
Worst Pick: Tutu Atwell
Biggest Steal: Robert Rochell
As you can tell by the grade, I was not a fan of the Rams draft at all. I felt they waited too long to address areas of need while taking players I just wasn’t a fan of. Tutu Atwell is a bit overhyped for me. At 150lbs, I just don’t see him worthy of a 2nd round pick especially with other quality players on the board. I also felt they needed to add more to the offensive line, which they didn’t address at all during the draft. Way too much depth on the offensive line in this draft to just skip it completely. Time will tell if this was a success, but with no 1st round pick, you can’t be taking too many gambles as they did.
Miami Dolphins: A-
Round 1: No. 6 (from Eagles) Jaylen Waddle, WR (Alabama)
Round 1: No. 18 Jaelan Phillips, DL (Miami)
Round 2: No. 36 (from Texans) Jevon Holland, S (Oregon)
Round 2: No. 42 (from Giants) Liam Eichenberg, OT (Notre Dame)
Round 3: No. 81 Hunter Long, TE (Boston College)
Round 7: No. 231 (from Texans) Larnel Coleman, OT (Massachusetts)
Round 7: No. 244 (from Washington) Gerrid Doaks, RB (Cincinnati)
Favorite Pick: Jaylen Waddle
Worst Pick: Jevon Holland
Biggest Steal: Liam Eichenberg
It was hard for me to find issues with the Dolphins draft. Not only did they add more future draft capital, they landed some VERY good players that can not only help them contribute now but be future stars. Jaylen Waddle can step in and give them another dimension to this offense while Phillips has the upside to be a dominant pass rusher. They also added some help to the offensive line in Liam Eichenberg, a once projected 1st round pick.
The only real knock is drafting Holland over some other players on the board, but that really wasn’t a bad pick at all.
Minnesota Vikings: B+
Round 1: No. 23 (from Seahawks through Jets) Christian Darrisaw, OT (Virginia Tech)
Round 3: No. 66 (from Jets) Kellen Mond, QB (Texas A&M)
Round 3: No. 78 Chazz Surratt, LB (North Carolina)
Round 3: No. 86 (from Seahawks through Jets) Wyatt Davis, G (Ohio State)
Round 3: No. 90 (from Ravens) Patrick Jones II, DE (Pittsburgh)
Round 4: No. 119 Kene Nwangwu, RB (Iowa State)
Round 4: No. 125 (from Bears) Camryn Bynum, CB (California)
Round 4: No. 134 (from Bills) Janarius Robinson, DE (Florida State)
Round 5: No. 157 Ihmir Smith-Marsette, WR (Iowa)
Round 5: No. 168 (from Steelers through Ravens): Zach Davidson, TE (Central Missouri)
Round 6: No. 199 Jaylen Twyman, DT (Pittsburgh)
Favorite Pick: Christian Darrisaw
Worst Pick: Kellen Mond
Biggest Steal: Jaylen Twyman
Overall, I liked what the Vikings did in the draft. They moved back to add some draft capital while still being able to snag a franchise-caliber LT. They added a ton of upside on the defensive side of the ball with Surratt and Jones while getting a huge steal in Twyman. The addition of Wyatt Davis, along with Darrisaw, will strengthen their offensive line and make them dangerous.
I am not a big Mond fan. While this wasn’t bad value, I think they could have added a receiver or TE to help elevate the offense even more than they did. I also think there were better options at RB/WR where they selected Nwangu and Smith-Marsette.
New England Patriots: A-
Round 1: No. 15 Mac Jones, QB (Alabama)
Round 2: No. 38 (from Bengals) Christian Barmore, DT (Alabama)
Round 3: No. 96 Ronnie Perkins, DE (Oklahoma)
Round 4: No. 120 (from Cardinals through Texans) Rhamondre Stevenson, RB (Oklahoma)
Round 5: No. 177 Cameron McGrone, LB (Michigan)
Round 6: No. 188 (from Texans) Joshuah Bledsoe, S (Missouri)
Round 6. No. 197 William Sherman, OT (Colorado)
Round 7: No. 242 Tre Nixon, WR (Central Florida)
Favorite Pick: Mac Jones
Worst Pick: Rhamondre Stevenson
Biggest Steal: Christian Barmore
I was a huge fan of the Patriots draft. They stuck to their guns and ended up landing a potential franchise-caliber QB in Mac Jones. Then traded up on the 2nd to grab a beast, and 1st round talent, in Christian Barmore. Both McGrone and Bledsoe are awesome upside picks later on as well.
My biggest knock is drafting an RB to compete in a crowded backfield as well as waiting so long on WR. So many quality receivers hung around longer than they should, they should have taken one in the 4th rather than an RB.
New Orleans Saints: C+
Round 1: No. 28 Payton Turner, DE (Houston)
Round 2: No. 60 Pete Werner, LB (Ohio State)
Round 3: No. 76 (from Giants via Broncos) Paulson Adebo, CB (Stanford)
Round 4: No. 133 Ian Book, QB (Notre Dame)
Round 6: No. 206 Landon Young, OT (Kentucky)
Round 7: No. 255 Kawann Baker, WR (South Alabama)
Favorite Pick: Paulson Adebo
Worst Pick: Ian Book
Biggest Steal: Paulson Adebo
Overall, I wasn’t a huge fan of this draft. The Saints had a few holes to fill to help take their team to the next level and I am not sure they filled them properly. I hate taking Ian Book as I don’t think he can ever be a starter. I also wish they would have gone WR much earlier to take some pressure off MT and give their QB more weapons. I also wasn’t as high on Turner and thought he could have been had later in the draft.
They did, however, land Paulson Adebo as a huge steal. Adebo was projected as a 1st round pick for some time so getting him as late as they did was huge. I am also a big fan of Werner and think he could be a difference-maker.
New York Giants: C+
Round 1: No. 20 (from Bears) Kadarius Toney, WR (Florida)
Round 2: No. 50 (from Dolphins) Azeez Ojulari, LB (Georgia)
Round 3: No. 71 (from Broncos) Aaron Robinson, CB (Central Florida)
Round 4: No. 116 Elerson Smith, LB (Northern Iowa)
Round 6: No. 196 Gary Brightwell, RB (Arizona)
Round 6: No. 201 (from Cardinals) Rodarius Williams, CB (Oklahoma State)
Favorite Pick: Azeez Ojulari
Worst Pick: Kadarius Toney
Biggest Steal: Azeez Ojulari
There are only two reasons I gave the Giants a C+ and not something worse. Acquiring more draft capital is huge and Ojulari in the 2nd round was a giant steal. Many projected Azeez to go in the top 20 so getting him at pick 50 was a big deal.
Not only was I not as big of a fan of Toney as others, I just don’t see him as a fit with this team. They don’t strike me as a team that will get creative enough with him plus he will be competing with other solid receivers for touches. This could have been another position, another more polished player, or even another trade back.
New York Jets: A+
Round 1: No. 2 Zach Wilson, QB (BYU)
Round 1: No. 14 (from Vikings) Alijah Vera-Tucker, OL (USC)
Round 2: No. 34 Elijah Moore, WR (Ole Miss)
Round 4: No. 107 Michael Carter, RB (UNC)
Round 5: No. 146 Jamien Sherwood, S (Auburn)
Round 5: No. 154 (from Giants) Michael Carter II, S (Duke)
Round 5: No. 175 (from Chiefs) Jason Pinnock, CB (Pittsburgh)
Round 6: No. 186 Hamsah Nasirildeen, S (Florida State)
Round 6: No. 200 (from Raiders) Brandin Echols, CB (Kentucky)
Round 6: No. 207 (from Steelers via Dolphins via Chiefs) Jonathan Marshall, DT (Arkansas)
Favorite Pick: Alijah Vera-Tucker
Worst Pick: Jason Pinnock
Biggest Steal: Michael Carter
I thought the Jets knocked this draft out of the park! Even without landing their QB, snagging Alijah Vera-Tucker is huge and will make their line a potentially dominant one. Elijah Moore was projected as a 1st round pick so adding him to their receiving core will be a big deal. Then Michael Carter falling to them in the 4th is icing on the cake. The Jets basically killed their first four picks.
The only real knock was not addressing CB earlier, but that is splitting hairs as they did very with in the first 4 rounds.
Philadelphia Eagles: A-
Round 1: No. 10 (from Cowboys) DeVonta Smith, WR (Alabama)
Round 2: No. 37 Landon Dickerson, C (Alabama)
Round 3: No. 73 Milton Williams, DT (Louisiana Tech)
Round 4: No. 123 (from Dolphins) Zech McPhearson, CB (Texas Tech)
Round 5: No. 150 Kenneth Gainwell, RB (Memphis)
Round 6: No. 189 Marlon Tuipulotu, DT (USC)
Round 6: No. 191 (from Broncos via Panthers) Tarron Jackson, DE (Coastal Carolina)
Round 6: No. 224 JaCoby Stevens, S (LSU)
Round 7: No. 234 Patrick Johnson, DE (Tulane)
Favorite Pick: Devonta Smith
Worst Pick: Zach McPhearson
Biggest Steal: Milton Williams
The Eagles did an excellent job with this draft. They moved back, acquired more draft capital, and still grabbed the receiver many thought they would initially. On top of that, they landed maybe the best center in the draft AND a beast at DT in Milton Williams.
The biggest question will be not taking an LB when they could and also whether or not their QB is the QB of the future. They were in a position to get a guy if they wanted but ultimately traded back and passed. Time will tell if that was the right move.
Pittsburgh Steelers: B+
Round 1: No. 24 Najee Harris, RB (Alabama)
Round 2: No. 55 Pat Freiermuth, TE (Penn State)
Round 3: No. 87 Kendrick Green, C (Illinois)
Round 4: No. 128 Dan Moore Jr., OT (Texas A&M)
Round 4: No. 140 Buddy Johnson, LB (Texas A&M)
Round 5: No. 156 (from Cowboys through Eagles through Dolphins) Isaiahh Loudermilk, DT (Wisconsin)
Round 6: No. 216 (from Buccaneers) Quincy Roche, LB (Miami)
Round 7: No. 245 (from Dolphins) Tre Norwood, CB (Oklahoma)
Round 7: No. 254 (from Ravens) Pressley Harvin III, P (Georgia Tech)
Favorite Pick: Pat Freiermuth
Worst Pick: Najee Harris
Biggest Steal: Quincy Roche
The Steelers draft is tough. They added some quality players but I don’t feel they addressed their needs, or at least not in the right way. I am not a fan of adding an RB when your offensive line was so bad AND you lost some offensive lineman. Those guys needed to be replaced before trying to add weapons.
Overall, I do love the talent of Freiermuth and Harris, which is why I still have them as a B+. Those two players can be difference makers for their offense if used properly and that line plays at a solid level.
San Francisco 49ers: B+
Round 1: No. 3 (from Texans through Dolphins) Trey Lance, QB (North Dakota State)
Round 2: No. 48 (from Raiders) Aaron Banks, G (Notre Dame)
Round 3: No. 88 (from Rams) Trey Sermon, RB (Ohio State)
Round 3: No. 102 Ambry Thomas, CB (Michigan)
Round 5: No. 155 Jaylon Moore, OG (Western Michigan)
Round 5: No. 172 (from Saints) Deommodore Lenoir, CB (Oregon)
Round 5: No. 180 Talanoa Hufanga, S (USC)
Round 6: No. 194 Elijah Mitchell, RB (Louisiana-Lafayette)
Favorite Pick: Trey Sermon
Worst Pick: Trey Lance
Biggest Steal: Trey Sermon
I was up and down on what the 49ers did. I wasn’t quite as high on Lance as others and feel he has more developmental needs than Fields and Jones. Giving up the capital they did to get him is very very risky. The success of their draft will hinge on how well he does.
On the flip side, I do love Trey Sermon and thought he was a huge steal getting him in the 3rd round. They also added some quality, upside interior lineman to help beef up the protection. I think both of those things will help make their offense even better than we have seen in the past.
Seattle Seahawks: D
Round 2: No. 56 D’Wayne Eskridge, WR (Western Michigan)
Round 4: No. 137 (from Buccaneers) Tre Brown, CB (Oklahoma)
Round 6: No. 208 (from Bears) Stone Forsythe, OT (Florida)
I am not even going to bother with the whole “favorite pick” thing here. They had 3 picks and I don’t think I liked any of them. I would have gone in different directions across the board and don’t feel they addressed their needs in this draft.
Their only saving grace was getting Tamorrion Terry as a UDFA.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: B-
Round 1: No. 32 Joe Tryon, LB (Washington)
Round 2: No. 64 Kyle Trask, QB (Florida)
Round 3: No. 95 Robert Hainsey, OL (Notre Dame)
Round 4: No. 129 (from Seahawks) Jaelon Darden, WR (North Texas)
Round 5: No. 176 K.J. Britt, LB (Auburn)
Round 7: No. 251 (from Steelers) Chris Wilcox, CB (BYU)
Round 7: No. 259 Grant Stuard, LB (Houston)
Favorite Pick: Joe Tryon
Worst Pick: Kyle Trask
Biggest Steal: Grant Stuard
The Bucs brought back all of their starters from their Superbowl run, so they didn’t have a ton of “needs” going into the draft. In terms of adding for the future, they did a solid job! Tryon could be a beast for them and they added other high upside defenders later in the draft.
I am not a Trask fan so I wish they went a different direction there, but it is a good landing spot for him considering who he has to learn from. It could prove to be a solid pick, but we shall see!
Tennessee Titans: A
Round 1: No. 22 Caleb Farley, CB (Virginia Tech)
Round 2: No. 53 Dillon Radunz, OL (North Dakota State)
Round 3: No. 92 Monty Rice, LB (Georgia)
Round 3: No. 100 Elijah Molden, CB (Washington)
Round 4: No. 109 Dez Fitzpatrick, WR (Louisville)
Round 4: No. 135 Rashad Weaver, DE (Pittsburgh)
Round 6: No. 205 Racey McMath, WR (LSU)
Round 6: No. 215 (from Chiefs) Brady Breeze, S (Oregon)
Favorite Pick: Caleb Farley
Worst Pick: Racey McMath
Biggest Steal: Farley/Molden
The Titans did a great job of addressing needs and getting awesome value! Farley could be the top corner from this draft if he stays healthy and Molden was projected as a high 2nd round pick. The combo of these two could be tremendous for their future. I also liked Dillon Radunz predraft and think he will help them a ton.
I wasn’t a huge fan of what they did at WR in the draft. Fitzpatrick and McMath both have a lot of work to do. They need someone more pro-ready to pair with AJ Brown. One of them could emerge down the line, but I am not sure either will if I am being honest.
Washington Football Team: B+
Round 1: No. 19 Jamin Davis, LB (Kentucky)
Round 2: No. 51 Samuel Cosmi, OT (Texas)
Round 3: No. 74 (from 49ers) Benjamin St-Juste, CB (Minnesota)
Round 3: No. 82 Dyami Brown, WR (North Carolina)
Round 4: No. 124 John Bates, TE (Boise State)
Round 5: No. 163 Darrick Forrest, S (Cincinnati)
Round 6: No. 225 (from Eagles) Cameron Cheeseman, LS (Michigan)
Round 7: No. 240 (from 49ers via Eagles) Will Bradley-King, DE (Baylor)
Round 7: No. 246 Shaka Toney, DE (Penn State)
Round 7: No. 258 (from Chiefs through Dolphins) Dax Milne, WR (BYU)
Favorite Pick: Dyami Brown
Worst Pick: Benjamin St-Juste
Biggest Steal: Dyami Brown
The WFT did a solid job of addressing needs and adding some very good talent to their team. Davis is a solid LB, but could be a tad early on him. My favorite pick is getting Dyami Brown in the late 3rd. Brown can be a high-end WR2 next to McLaurin and really help take this offense to another level.
I think not addressing the QB position at all could prove to be costly for them. In a draft with 5 1st round QB and 3 more going in day 2, you HAVE to be on eo the teams on that train.
