January Mockarena: 2021 Devy Mock Draft

As we pulled all of the 2021 rookies out of our rankings in preparation for the 2021 Devy Watch guide, we thought it would be a good idea to start landscaping the new devy scene. There’s no better way to do that than with a mock draft. Since our Devy Watch guide will be published a little later this year, you can count on the players below being somewhere in the top 100 if you draft before the tentative March 1st release date.

LSU TE Arik Gilbert Opted Out. What’s Next?

LSU’s stud freshman TE Arik Gilbert followed other former 5-star pass catchers at LSU and officially opted out of the 2020 season yesterday. He was the 2019 National Gatorade Player of the Year and the highest-rated TE prospect ever, according to 247sports.

Gilbert caught 35 balls for 368 yards and two touchdowns this season at LSU. Let’s compare Gilbert’s shortened, SEC-only freshman season to the freshman season of these other recent first-round tight ends.

Prep Evaluation: RB Dallan Hayden

At the time of this article, Dallan Hayden, out of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, TN, is the #300 overall prospect and #18 athlete in the 2022 class, according to 247sports. We usually don’t cover players in the middle of their high school junior season, but I’m making an exception. I’ve been fortunate enough to watch Hayden since he was a freshman, and while I try to stay unbiased, I think we’ll hear his name a lot this time next year.
