We are post-week 5 and finally getting some clarity on who will be occupying the top spots of the 2020 NFL Draft. Heading into the season, the QB position looked to be the most highly coveted position and nothing changes in this mock. We have seen in the past how willing teams are to jump up to snag their QB of the future, so I decided to have some fun with that and include some trades in this mock! So enjoy!

1. Oakland Raiders via MIA (0-4): Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama

Team Needs: WR, LB, QB

I am not sure if Oakland REALLY needs a QB, but I am guessing Gruden REALLY wants a QB, especially this one. Tua is one of the most gifted passers in CFB, if not THE most gifted. He has exceptional arm talent in every definition of the term; mechanics, quick release, arm strength/zip, he has it all. On top of that, he is very intelligent and able to quickly process what is going on around him both pre- and post-snap. Gruden would love to have a QB with his gifts and could help elevate this offense to another level. So the Raiders go out and pay for Tua!

2. Cincinnati Bengals (0-5): Jordan Love, QB, Utah St

Team Needs: OL, QB, LB

I am not on the Andy Dalton hate train like many seem to be and even without a supporting cast around him, namely offensive line, I think he has done quite well. But, I do think the Bengals will look for a different direction. Enter, Jordan Love. A name that is quickly rising and rightfully so. He fits the bill of a 2019 QB in terms of his ability to work from within the pocket and also make plays on the run including being able to throw when on the move and from different arm angles. Love would be an excellent choice to usher in a new era of Bengals football.

3. Washington Redskins (0-5): Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia

Team Needs: OL, WR, CB

The Redskins hope they have their QB of the future now its time to protect him. With Trent Williams likely not returning, the Skins will need a new left tackle to anchor their line. Thomas is a physical specimen with an excellent build at 6’5” 320lbs that does a fantastic job mirroring. He also uses his hands beautifully and has the strength to handle power rushers. Thomas should be a staple for the Redskins and help protect Haskins for years to come.

4. New York Jets (0-4): Chase Young, DE, Ohio St

Team Needs: OL, WR, CB

The Jets aren’t in much need of a defensive end, but it will be WAY too hard to pass on a talent like Chase Young as he is arguably the best defender in the draft and likely the best we have seen in a few years. Young is a monster of a man standing at 6’5” and a rocked-up 265lbs. He does a terrific job of exploding off the line and turning speed to power along with excellent hand usage. Young is as dynamic of a pass rusher you will find and can be a difference-maker on the defensive side of the ball.

5. Miami Dolphins via PIT (1-4): Walker Little, OT Stanford

Team Needs: Everything

For a team that needs help everywhere, it will be smarter for the Dolphins to stockpile picks and load up on talent as much as possible which is why I had them trading out of the 1st spot. Now they can focus on surrounding Rosen with the talent to give him a shot to succeed. The first step is adding a quality LT that can protect his blindside. Little is a monster LT standing at 6’7” and more athletic than most at his position which helps his versatility in both the run and pass game. He has excellent footwork and very powerful, especially in the run game. Little will miss all of 2019 due to injury, but he is too talented for it to affect his draft stock.

6. Denver Broncos (1-4): Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

Team Needs: QB, OL, LB

The Broncos have been searching for their QB of the future for quite some time and I don’t think Lock is it. Instead, the Broncos take highly-touted Justin Herbert to lead their team back to glory. Herbert checks all the boxes you want out of a QB. He has the arm talent to make every throw and does an excellent job placing the ball anywhere he wants. With QB locked in for the Broncos, they can now turn their attention to filling other holes.

7. Atlanta Falcons (1-4): Grant Delpit, S, LSU

Team Needs: DB, DL, RB

The Falcons are in a great position at the #7 pick with many teams ahead of them in need of a QB, meaning one of the top defensive players WILL fall to them. In this case, it is the stud safety Grant Delpit. Delpit follows the tradition of elite DBs to come from LSU and is one of the most talented I have seen. He has incredible range and can fly around the field making plays. He has excellent instincts, elite ball skills, and is one of the better tacklers in CFB. Delpit will be an instant difference-maker for a Falcons defense that needs some help.

8. Los Angeles Chargers via ARI (1-3-1): Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia

Team Needs: QB, DB, LB

Another trade going down and another QB off the board! The Chargers are lucky enough to have drafted well and have talent on both sides of the ball. Their biggest need? Finding someone to take over for Rivers when he leaves, and I believe Fromm can be that guy. Fromm is an extremely intelligent QB and has an incredible feel for the game. He has the ability to make every throw in the book but is also smart enough to know when to unleash his arm and when to take the check downs. With the talent the Chargers have on the offensive side of the ball they will need a QB that won’t take unnecessary chances, force the issue, or make silly throws.

9. New York Giants (2-3): Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama

Team Needs: OL, WR, LB

With the way the draft has fallen, the Giants end up landing the top WR in the draft to pair with Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley. Jeudy has been pegged as the top WR in the class as far back as high school and has not disappointed so far at Alabama. He has elite level route running and is one of the more explosive players in the country. Jeudy makes it look easy to get open and will be a threat whenever he touches the ball. Jeudy will give Jones a reliable target in the passing game and can help open things up in the run game as well.

10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-3): Joe Burrow, QB, LSU

Team Needs: QB, OL, RB

The Bucs have reached the end of the road with Winston, now Arians will go out and get “his guy” to run the offense. Joe Burrow was off most radars, including my own, but has started this season on fire and put himself squarely in the Heisman race. He is a big, tall QB with a rocket arm and the ability to operate from within the pocket. The Bucs have incredible WR weapons and Burrow should be a nice upgrade from their current QB situation and will help elevate this offense to compete with the rest of the NFL.

11. Cleveland Browns (2-3): Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa

Team Needs: OL, S, LB

The Cleveland Browns can use a little help everywhere, but they certainly need to get some protection for Baker. He is being pressured/hit way too often and has little to no time to find his stud weapons. Wirfs is a powerful lineman that does a great job anchoring down and rarely gets walked back. He uses his hands beautifully to keep defenders from controlling him and should help keep Baker clean.

12. Tennessee Titans (2-3): Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn

Team Needs: QB, DL, WR

It is tough to tell which direction the Titans will go in the draft as they could be a team that trades up for a QB. In this case, the Titans sit tight and land a dynamic defensive tackle to help beef up their offense as Derrick Brown is a top 10 talent for many including myself. He has ridiculous strength and plays with fantastic leverage. He is constantly in the backfield making plays or disrupting what the offense wants to do. He is a player that will help plug up holes in the run game but can also get to the QB. In a division with some talented and explosive offenses, Brown can help in both phases of the game to try and slow them down.

13. Arizona Cardinals via LAC (2-3): Trey Adams, OT, Washington

Team Needs: OL, DB, DL

The Cardinals trade back a few spots, pick up an extra 2nd round pick, and still get a quality offensive lineman in my opinion and it’s no secret the Cardinals are in desperate need of offensive line help. They declined to address the position last year, instead opting to take another 1st round QB. No matter, they should take the shot now with their QB locked in. Adams is a big OT with the ability to anchor an offensive line. He is athletic enough and has the strength to be a bully in the run game. He should fit perfectly in the Cards new jump-start offense.

14. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-3): CJ Henderson, CB, Florida

Team Needs: WR, CB, LB

The Jags stand pat in their desire to keep Jalen Ramsey, but I don’t see him being on this team next year so they will need to find a replacement. CJ Henderson can certainly fill that bill! Henderson is a very fluid player and does a great job of flipping his hips in coverage. He has elite ball skills and uses top-notch instincts to make plays on the football. Ramsey would be tough to replace, but Henderson has the talent to help curb the loss.

15. Carolina Panthers(3-2): AJ Epenesa, DE, Iowa

Team Needs: OL, CB, S

The Panthers aren’t in “need” of a DE, but with QBs crowding the top of the draft, a potential top 5 talent falls right into their laps. Epenesa is an impressive combo of strength and explosiveness. He gets off the line quickly and is able to convert his speed to power beautifully. Epenesa also has very good hand usage and if he is able to add in a few more moves he could be one of the more dynamic pass rushers in the league.

16. Miami Dolphins via OAK via CHI (3-2): Tyler Biadasz, C Wisconsin

Team Needs: Everything

The Dolphins snag this pick via a trade with Oakland and continue to build up that offensive line by adding the best interior lineman in the draft. Having Tyler Biadasz as the centerpiece of their offensive line will help give Rosen time in the passing game and also help open holes in the run game. Biadasz does an excellent job using his hands to keep pass rushers at bay and is absolutely nasty in the run game. He has the ability to move defenders across the line and is athletic enough to get out on the edge to make blocks. Giving Rosen more and more protection will allow the Dolphins to now turn their attention to adding more weapons around him.

17. Minnesota Vikings (3-2): Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU

Team Needs: DB, LB, OL

The Vikings have done an excellent job building up several areas of their team so adding a top corner to compete with some of the NFC North wideouts would be a smart move. Fulton is a lengthy corner with excellent quickness and does a fantastic job flipping his hips to stick with wideouts. He also has a knack for the football constantly deflecting passes, stripping the football, or even coming up with timely turnovers. Fulton should help boost the Vikings’ defense in hopes to slow down these high powered offenses.

18. Los Angeles Rams (3-2): Dylan Moses, LB, Alabama

Team Needs: LB, OL, DB

Dylan Moses got hurt early and will miss all of 2019, but that shouldn’t stop him from being a 1st round pick. Moses follows the mold of Bama linebackers and is a freak athlete. He does an excellent job getting sideline to sideline and is as sure of a tackler as there is. Assuming he comes back at full strength, he is a player that can lead your defense for years to come.

19. Indianapolis Colts (3-2): Raekwon Davis, DT, Alabama

Team Needs: LB, CB, DT

Raekwon Davis is a tough player to pin down. He has the physical attributes and upside to be picked near the top 10 and if he puts it together this year, this would be an absolute steal for the Colts. Davis has impressive length and hand usage and plays with an incredible motor. Davis is the type of player that can anchor the middle of their defense and help with both the passing and run game

20. Dallas Cowboys (3-2): Albert Okwuegbunam, TE, Missouri

Team Needs: TE, CB, S

The Cowboys have done a great job of building up their team over the years but they are still missing the game-changing tight end Dak loves so much. Albert Okwuegbunam is not just a handful to say but he is a handful to defend as well. Albert O does a terrific job of finding soft spots in a zone defense and is a nightmare for linebackers/safeties to match up with. He has great length and attacks the ball in the air. He is a touchdown maker and should be yet another dynamic weapon at Dak’s disposal.

**PLAYOFF TEAMS**

21. Miami Dolphins via OAK (3-2): Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin

Team Needs: Everything

After beefing up the O-line, the Dolphins now add a weapon for Rosen to use. Taylor has vaulted himself into not only a Heisman contender but also one of the best backs in CFB history. Taylor is a perfect combo of strength and athleticism. He has sneaky speed and fantastic vision. He has started to show off his receiving chops this season, showing scouts he can be a true three-down RB. A weapon like this would elevate an anemic Dolphins’ offense.

22. Philadelphia Eagles (3-2): Bryce Hall, CB, Virginia

Team Needs: LB, CB, S

The Eagles have done a solid job building up their offense and should look to continue to build up their defense by adding a quality corner to their secondary. Hall does an excellent job sticking to receivers like glue and can be a ball hawk as well. He is very fluid in his movements and does a fantastic job mirroring. Hall also isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and help out in the run game. Hall should be able to boost the Eagles secondary.

23. Baltimore Ravens (3-2): Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma

Team Needs: LB, DB, WR

Kenneth Murray doesn’t get talked about enough but is one of the top linebackers in the country. He is a physical specimen and has an elite all-around game. In 2018 he also set the record for most tackles in one game. The Ravens love these prospects from blue-chip programs and Murray is an LB that can take over as the leader of their defense early.

24. Miami Dolphins via HOU (3-2): Ceedee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma

Team Needs: Everything

With the last of their 1st round picks, the Dolphins continue to add to their offense and get an absolute steal with Lamb. Ceedee Lamb doesn’t get talked about nearly enough for how talented he is. He has excellent size and is an elite route runner. He has very good hands and does a fantastic job of attacking the football. He is a guy that can get open often for Rosen and has the catching ability to reduce the drops this team has seen. Leaving the first round with a built-up line and two elite weapons for Rosen is an excellent way to jump-start their rebuild.

25. Detroit Lions (2-1-1): Isaiah Simmons, S/LB, Clemson

Team Needs: DB, LB, DL

The Lions have a quality team all-around, so adding some more defensive weapons to compete with the top-notch offenses they face within the division is a smart move. Simmons is one of the most, if not the most, versatile players in the country. He can play in coverage and stick with the athletes from the offensive side of the ball but also has the ability to play the LB position at a high level. Simmons will be an excellent addition to an already quality Lions’ defense.

26. Buffalo Bills (4-1): Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama

Team Needs: WR, LB, DB

The Bills have been one of the surprising teams so far this season but they still need to add some weapons to this offense. Ruggs is one of the more explosive players in this draft and is a big play threat any time he touches the ball. Ruggs reportedly ran a 4.25 40 at a Bama junior pro day which is almost unheard of. He also does an excellent job of winning early in his routes and has excellent hands. Giving Allen a weapon like Ruggs will help kick this offense up another level.

27. Pittsburgh Steelers via SEA (4-1): Jacob Eason, QB, Washington

Team Needs: QB, WR, CB

The Steelers gave up their 1st in the trade with the Dolphins, but they are too desperate for a QB to sit back and wait. With Big Ben’s time nearly up, the Steelers should bring in a player like Eason to groom. Eason is a big, strong-armed QB that does an excellent job working from within the pocket. Eason makes smart reads and decisions. He is very much in the mold of Big Ben and would be an excellent successor.

28. New Orleans Saints (4-1): Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama

Team Needs: LB, TE, S

The Saints have built up a high powered offense and look to add more weapons to the defensive side of the ball with McKinney. McKinney is an elite safety that flies around the field both in coverage and playing the run game. He has fantastic ball skills and is a very sure tackler. He is a player that will help the Saints combat some of these dangerous offenses.

29. Green Bay Packers (4-1): Marvin Wilson, DT, Florida St

Team Needs: WR, OL, DL

Marvin Wilson is another player with the upside of being a top 10-15 player in the draft making it difficult for the Packers to pass on. He is a physically imposing player at 6’5” 315lbs with enough explosion to fire off the line of scrimmage. He plays with excellent leverage and hand usage making it tough for an offensive lineman to keep him in front of them. Adding a difference-maker like Wilson to an improved Packers defense will make them even scarier than they already are.

30. Kansas City Chiefs (4-1): Trey Smith, OL, Tennessee

Team Needs: CB, LB, OL

The Chiefs love drafting in the trenches and they love versatility. Trey Smith checks both boxes for Andy Reid’s offense. Smith has the ability to play LT or even kick inside to play the guard position, something the Chiefs could use. Smith has excellent fundamentals and the athleticism to get out into open space on screenplays and the run game. He has the strength to anchor down against power rushers and fantastic hand usage to keep defenders from getting into his chest. Adding a versatile offensive lineman like Smith will help keep Mahomes clean and open up lanes in the run game.

31. San Fransisco 49ers (4-0): Jeffrey Okudah, CB, Ohio St

Team Needs: DB, LB, WR

The 49ers get a huge steal here with one of the top DBs falling into their laps. With Okudah, they will finally have a lockdown corner on the other side of Sherman to help compete against offenses like the Seahawks and Rams week in and week out. Okudah is a lengthy corner with fantastic ball skills and fluid movements. He should help slow down some of the elite wideouts they face every week.

32. New England Patriots (5-0): Alex Leatherwood, OL, Alabama

Team Needs: DL, OL, LB

The Patriots are clearly one of the better all-around teams in the league. Giving Brady more protection and a boost to the run game would be a smart move to keep their HOF QB around a bit longer. Alex Leatherwood is a beast of an offensive lineman. He is physical and moves defenders in the run game but also has the footwork and hand usage to be an effective pass blocker. He should help open up some holes for the Pats and give Brady more time to find some of his talented wideouts.

Round 2:

  1. Miami Dolphins: Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama
  2. Cincinnati Bengals: Tommy Kraemer, OL, Notre Dame
  3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers via IND via WAS: D’Andre Swift, RB, Georgia
  4. New York Jets: Tee Higgins, WR, Clemson
  5. Seattle Seahawks via PIT: Paulson Adebo, CB, Stanford
  6. Denver Broncos: Calvin Throckmorton, OT, Oregon
  7. Atlanta Falcons: Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson
  8. Arizona Cardinals: Essang Bassey, CB, Wake Forest
  9. New York Giants: Shane Lemeiux, OL, Oregon
  10. Indianapolis Colts via TB: AJ Terrell, CB, Clemson
  11. Cleveland Browns: Ashtyn Davis, S, California
  12. Tennessee Titans: Yetur Gross-Matos, DE, Penn St
  13. Arizona Cardinals via LAC: Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina
  14. Jacksonville Jaguars: Tylan Wallace, WR, Oklahoma St
  15. Carolina Panthers: AJ Terrell, CB, Clemson

  18. Los Angeles Rams: Jaylon Johnson, CB, Utah
  19. Indianapolis Colts: Jalen Reagor, WR, TCU
  20. Dallas Cowboys: JR Reed, S, Georgia
  21. Chicago Bears via OAK: Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado
  22. Philadelphia Eagles: Jacob Phillips, LB, LSU
  23. Baltimore Ravens: Mike Hampton, CB, USF
  24. Houston Texans: JK Dobbins, RB, Ohio St
  25. Detroit Lions: Terrell Lewis, DE, Alabama
  26. Buffalo Bills: Cam Akers, RB, Florida St
  27. Seattle Seahawks: Nick Coe, DE, Auburn
  28. Oakland Raiders via MIA via NO: Devonta Smith, WR, Alabama
  29. Green Bay Packers: Bryan Edwards, WR, South Carolina
  30. Kansas City Chiefs: Malik Harrison, LB, Ohio St
