BOWL THREAD: January 1st & 4th
The Cotton Bowl began in 1986. Boston College beat Georgia in the inaugural game. The Big 10 has gone 13-19 in its history. Since 2010, they’ve gone 4-7. The SEC has gone 18-13 all-time.

The Gator Bowl was played for the first time about 15 months after the conclusion of World War II. The winner of the first Gator Bowl in 1946? Wake Forest! While they had higher aspirations late in the season after playing for the ACC title, I believe they will be excited to play in this game.
This is the first time the Fenway Bowl will be played. It was scheduled to get off the ground last year, but COVID caused a cancellation. SMU has only played in two bowl games since 2013. They got smoked in both 2017 and 2019.
No need for any riggaramole here. Nevada opened -7, or thereabouts, and I’m still kicking myself for not taking it. That seemed like a fine line to me, given the information that I had at the time. So, what could cause a ten point+ line swing in a bowl game?
This will be the second time the Myrtle Beach Bowl is played. Last year, App State mowed down North Texas 56-28. ODU is bowling for the second time in program history. They won the Bahamas Bowl in 2016 against EMU 24-20. Philip Montgomery has taken Tulsa to three bowl games in their history. He is 1-2 in those games, losing to Miss State in the Armed Forces Bowl last year, 28-26. Both teams should be happy to go bowling, while it’s reasonable to assume that ODU is slightly more motivated.
The Bahamas Bowl has provided some early Christmas presents over the years. It’s probably the bowl that players from small, underperforming schools get the most excited about. For many of these players, it will be their first time out of the continental US, and a memory they will cherish. CUSA is 4-2 SU over MAC in this bowl’s history.
It is with mixed emotions that I’m announcing that I’m stepping away from Devy Watch. This project has been a big part of my life for the past several years. To be honest, I never intended to go as far on this journey as a formal content creator as I did. It was a happy accident that I ever got involved in the fantasy space at all in many ways.
Here are my PrizePicks plays for championship weekend.
FRIDAY:
WKU @ UTSA (+1.5/72)
WKU had a play-in game last week at Marshall to decide who would represent their side in the title game. WKU won the game 53-21. Marshall held a 14-0 lead through the first 1.5 quarters of the game.
EGG BOWL!!!!!!! Well, we’ve all made another trip around the sun and it’s time for the greatest rivalry in sports. It’s surely the fiercest. This should be a terrific game.
